On The Ref Show this week Alan Biggs was joined by former General Manager of the PGMOL Keith Hackett and former National Referee Manager for The FA Dean Mohareb to wrap up an exciting weekend of FA Cup Third Round action.
The opening tie on Friday night saw Liverpool defeat rivals Everton 2-1 but aside from Virgil van Dijk’s debut winner, the main talking point following the game was the unsavoury incident involving Roberto Firmino and Mason Holgate. There was also unpleasant scenes at Newport County where Leeds United player Samu Saiz has been banned for six games for spitting at an opponent. Keith and Dean give their reaction to this as well as reflecting on other games that weekend including two sending offs at Wolves.
Tonight for the very first time in English domestic football, the Video Assistant Referee is introduced and will be on duty for Brighton v Crystal Palace. You can follow live text commentary on RefCam with Mark Halsey and watch Keith and Dean give their preview ahead of tonight.
