Full Time Summary

RCT at 2017-04-16 15:34:16

For me to full time Jon has shown:

A stepped approach to match control, he has talked to the players (i.e. Lucas and Robson Kanu 1st half which was consistent and correct) correct showing of 4 yellow cards, which again was overall correct and consistent.

JM had judged advantage situations well today and there were a high number that he allowed to be played. Speaking to offender and offender where possible in breaks in play. He has also shown a clear communication of intention to play advantage or to award a free kick.

KMD`s - none to report in this game.

Positioning - We have discussed in my blog a number of contentious throw in decisions, my feeling here is that on occasions then JM has not had the best view and has tended to look down the line to his AR when in his half he would have had the better view to award, and follow this up with a directional restart of play.

Otherwise the game has been controlled today and there can be no complaints regarding any KMD judgements.

50

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:41:12

Right in front of the Technical Areas uncertainty over a throw in award - this is my point as a referee you need to be positive and sharp on your directional restart JM did not award - hesitated looked to his AR ad then gave to Liverpool after a delay - get in there quickly and award to avoid hesitation and uncertainty.

48

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:37:17

Yellow Card

Robson - Kanu is correctly shown the yellow card and becomes Jon Moss`s 97th yellow card this season will he hit the 100 today?

47

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:35:51

FK to Liverpool no advantage followed quickly up by a fk to WBA

46

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:34:44

Clear fk to WBA - JM has awarded from a distance but the decision looks correct - if he had moved in closer and created an angle he would have had a better view of the incident.

WBA to kick off the 2nd half

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:33:00

We are underway

Half Time Summary

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:31:48

For me to half time Jon has shown:

A stepped approach to match control, he has talked to the players (ie. Lucas and Robson Kanu which has been consistent and correct) correct showing of a yellow card to Brunt just before half time and the free kick then eventually led to Liverpool`s goal.

JM had judged advantage situations well. Speaking to offender and offended at the next opportunity. He has also shown a clear communication of intention to play advantage or to award a free kick.

KMD`s - none to report upon as yet.

Fitness - To half time we have seen a response to maintain position and presence which now needs to be carried into the 2nd half.

His body language is positive and he is applying basic application of law.

Just the one area that we discussed in my blog, was Communication as a referee it is key to communicate your directional throw in restarts and this needs to be by a clear and positive directional arm signal - straight and signalling in the direction of the re-start. As a referee this is a key attribute of your communication skills.

HALF TIME

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:18:18

Half Time

0-1.

45+45 seconds

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:17:38

GOAL!

0-1 - Firmino from the free kick awarded following Brunt`s yellow card.

1 minute added time

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:16:37

Yellow Card

Brunt for shirt pull back.

43

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:16:00

Evans careless on Clyne - whistled first by JM then followed up by a flag from AH. Good practice  here as an AR in these situations is to get the flag up first before the referee.

39

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:11:23

FK to Liverpool followed up by what looked to be a pull back by Robson - Kanu on Lucas this decision looked correct on replay and JM has a calming word with Robson - Kanu

35

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:06:35

Cam penalised for a foul on Dawson in the WBA penalty looks correct

33

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:05:08

Another advantage to L. signalled by JM. sees Liverpool moving into a good attacking position.

31

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:03:52

Liverpool advantage allowed (ALWAYS GOOD TO SPEAK TO PLAYER OFFENDER AND OFFENDED) followed up by a  player signalled offside by CH - just but correct on replay.

29

RCT at 2017-04-16 14:02:03

Advantage to WBA following a foul on McAuley

26

RCT at 2017-04-16 13:57:17

FK to L. following a foul by McCauley on Mignolet in that last WBA. ck.

Decision Making Accucracy

RCT at 2017-04-16 13:54:37

When we look at Decision Making Accuracy we  are looking at the recognition of offences and promoting fair play. Consistent decision making and also recognising violations of LAW 12. More to follow later.

Lucas has just been spoken to by JM for that last challenge which is careless.

FK against Robson - Kanu - awarded because there was no clear advantage to L.

17

RCT at 2017-04-16 13:49:01

AH signals a CK as JM looks to AH for the restart of play - decision.

16

RCT at 2017-04-16 13:47:59

JM at a throw in correctly moves back the WBA player positional restart as he was trying to achieve a better angle

13

RCT at 2017-04-16 13:46:04

Offside against West Brom - CH correctly raises his flag in the air, but JM allows play to continue as the ball runs through to the L. G/K. CH correct to flag in this offside situation though.

Communication - Throw in - Signalling Technique

RCT at 2017-04-16 13:42:53

JM does not appear to signalling throw in direction restarts - As a referee this is a key area to communicate not only to players, but also Management and Spectators and is a good habit to get into as a referee.

8

RCT at 2017-04-16 13:40:03

Evans correctly penalised for a challenge from behind careless and play is stopped by JM

5

RCT at 2017-04-16 13:36:42
