FINAL SCORE: 4 - 1

An excellent performance from Anthony Taylor today, every time I see this Referee on a Refcam game he impresses! All the foundation work was laid in the first half, as I said at half time he set a realistic threshold on acceptable verses careless contact, got on the players wavelength in this respect and as a result never needed to issue a caution for a reckless tackle in what is usually a fiercely contested London derby. This was backed up with superb fitness, movement and positioning. He was always where he needed to be, be that wide left where both teams attacked, or in the final third. The cautions all came in the second half as some of the players lost their composure, and talking of composure this Referee always looked self assured and confident. A most impressive all round performance. Peter Kirkup has come in for some past ‘stick’ on Refcam, but today I must praise him, the pitch side Sky microphone  clearly picked him up proactively talking to the players as they contested the ball near to him, superb! He was also decisive at the double caution of Walker and Sakho, well done! Andy Garratt got lucky, how different would matters have been had Kouyate’s first half effort gone in and not hit the bar when he was clearly offside? to be fair to Andy he’s had a great track record at this level for a long time and he did well in the second half on some close offside calls. But one thing is for sure, the post match TV and media spotlight won’t be on the match officials!

The Referee has covered some ground today, this game has always been about attacking play!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:43:27

GOAL!Cracking strike from Lanzini, one back for the Hammers!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:42:25

Anthony Taylor has a wonderful knack of avoiding play if it remotely becomes possible that he might get in the way, in the build up to that goal he again just turned in to taking himself way from danger, its all in those first couple of avoiding steps that he takes, pure quality!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:40:06

GOAL!Walker bends one in off the outside of his boot! 4-0

RH at 2015-11-22 18:37:55

Anthony Taylor making a great 20 metre midfield explosive sprint to maintain close proximity to play in that last Spurs attack!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:36:18

My earlier reference to the pitch side ‘mike’ was of course to a microphone!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:34:12

I know I praised West Ham for competing well despite being 3-0 but why are players of both teams getting involved at this stage of the game with fifteen minutes to go?

RH at 2015-11-22 18:32:33

Yellow CardPeter Kirkup in the tick of it again as the Referee issues yellow cards to Walker and Sakho, why did the players over react like that!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:30:40

Excellent to see that the pitch side mike picked up Assistant Referee Peter Kirkup proactively talking to the players as they contested the ball near to him on the touchline, great work Peter!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:26:57

It might not be going well for them today but to their credit West Ham are still running and competing!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:24:29

Yellow CardYellow cards for Noble and Alli for handbags, quite right! good to see Pochettino trying to pull Alli away despite being some distance from the Technical area, he was only trying to help!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:22:06

Another tight call for Andy Garratt as Alli is caught offside!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:19:30

Son offside there as the ball as he was played in, close but Andy Garratt getting it right this time!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:17:59

A great reaction there from Danny Rose despite colliding with Sakho, he just got on with it, well done!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:15:21

You can’t please them all though as Andy Carroll is finding plenty to moan about!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:13:44

The Referees level of control in this match was underlined by the fact that he did not have to use the spray at that last West Ham free kick near the Spurs penalty are!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:11:06

Reid in clumsily on Dembele, not a caution in this game!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:09:15

That was an important goal, who ever scored it would determine the shape of the game!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:06:47

GOAL!Kane punishes poor defending 3-0

RH at 2015-11-22 18:06:05

Noble unhappy with that free kick, but he did have hold of Kane’s shorts!

RH at 2015-11-22 18:03:38

Walker in hard on Reid, TV pictures confirming that it was careless with a free kick  suffice, but no more

RH at 2015-11-22 18:01:24

The second half has started!

RH at 2015-11-22 17:54:33

An impressive first half by Anthony Taylor with textbook positioning and movement, he’s reading play well and getting into good final third viewing positions, I also like his first half tolerance level on acceptable verses careless contact, he’s getting very little reaction from players and so far there has been no reason to show yellow, all in all a good involvement level. Peter Kirkup has had little to do so far despite Spurs having 64% of possession. But the talking point of the first half from a Match Officials point of view was Andy Garratt’s call not to signal Kouyate offside when he was so obviously involved in play as the ball was played forward into the Spurs penalty area. Other than that a solid first half

RH at 2015-11-22 17:47:43

A free kick for a careless challenge by Carroll on Vertonghen brings the first half to a close

Half Time

RH at 2015-11-22 17:45:37

a minimum of one minute added time

RH at 2015-11-22 17:44:34

Nobel late there on Dembele, he just needs to be careful as he was similarly late on Kane earlier

RH at 2015-11-22 17:42:57

A neat little turn inside by the Referee in the build up to that last West Ham attack, again shrewdly reading play to be close but not in the way!

RH at 2015-11-22 17:39:58

Anthony Taylor making impressive use of an explosive sprint from midfield as Kane misses a chance to make it 3-0

RH at 2015-11-22 17:36:36

With Eriksen, Alli and Rose all featuring prominently down the left, Anthony Taylor is getting wide into good viewing positions wide left

RH at 2015-11-22 17:35:02

Stay with us here on Refcam, later today at 10.00 pm we’re covering one of the MLS Playoff games between Columbus Crew and New York Red Bulls , Tomorrow at 8.00 we’re following strugglers Sunderland as Big Sam returns to London in search of  Premier League points  when they visit Crystal Palace.  There’s Champions League action this week when we feature the Arsenal Dinamo verses Zagreb game on Tuesday at 7.45 and on Wednesday we’re covering the Manchester United verses PSV Eindhoven game again at 7.45

RH at 2015-11-22 17:34:11

GOAL!Alderweireld times his run perfectly for Spurs second goal!

RH at 2015-11-22 17:32:03

Good advantage and delayed whistle as Noble goes in careless on Kane wide left!

RH at 2015-11-22 17:30:41

The tempo has risen and the balance of play is now more even as the Hammers press for an equaliser!

RH at 2015-11-22 17:28:27

Well how costly would that have been has Kouate scored? we would have been talking about offside goals as we did when Spurs hosted Man City a few weeks ago!

RH at 2015-11-22 17:25:59

Surprisingly no Offside Flag from Andy Garratt as Kouyate hit the bar, surely he was involved in play as the ball was played forward?

RH at 2015-11-22 17:23:37

GOAL!Harry Kane makes it 1-0 Spurs! despite the close attention of Jenkinson!

RH at 2015-11-22 17:20:44

Sensible positioning by Anthony Taylor in midfield as Spurs build their attacks, he doesn’t anticipate play and get caught up, but chooses to track play and follow up with short explosive sprints if necessary, effective!

RH at 2015-11-22 17:17:13

Spurs attacking down the left side at the moment with Danny Rose pushing up, Assistant Peter Kirkup will need to concentrate to judge any potential offside calls from the far touchline

RH at 2015-11-22 17:14:30

Assistant Andy Garratt signalling Andy Carroll offside, looked a good call

RH at 2015-11-22 17:12:08

The Referee did well in midfield not to get caught up in play as Spurs started to attack, good awareness!

RH at 2015-11-22 17:09:44

Good advantage played wide left in the build up to this West Ham attack as Moses was fouled!

RH at 2015-11-22 17:08:26

Dier on Carroll there for an early free kick, that will be an interesting contest!

RH at 2015-11-22 17:07:15

The players settling in at the moment as they return to action after the recent International break, I’m sure the tempo will rise before too long!

RH at 2015-11-22 17:03:44

TV highlighting the fascinating midfield contest in prospect today, will that show itself with some tough tackling?

RH at 2015-11-22 17:01:37

No Premier League Referee has been under the Spotlight of the live TV cameras more than Anthony Taylor this season, with 9 of his 12 games being shown!
