Summary. A relatively "easy" afternoon for Michael Oliver today.  With one team in total control and most of the time being almost a " Defence v Attack" situation, it is easy to lose concentration as an official but to their credit this did not happen today.  The Referee was able to adopt a "low profile" which generally suited the attitude of the players but didn't shy away when a cautionable offence was committed by the Bournemouth substitute Fraser, to let players know control would not be threatened. In the type of game that unfolded we saw a performance from the Officials which was to be expected with no contentious decisions either given or not which allowed an entertaining, if mostly one-sided to enjoyed. Don't forget the upcoming RefCam matches as follows:                                           Tomorrow W.B.A v Liverpool at 13.30                                                                                         Man Utd v Chelsea at 16.00                                                                      Monday    Middlesborough v Arsenal                                                                       Tuesday     Real Madrid v Bayern Munich Enjoy the rest of Easter and thanks for joining me today.  Beer and sandwich for me now. Cheers.

Yellow Cardfor Fraser following a reckless challenge on Davies.

S.M at 2017-04-15 13:57:43
Although it seems a warm afternoon, the Referee is working hard to ensure he is always in close proximity of play. Trip by Arter on Alli. Again Arter wants to have his say on the decision. The Referee is being patient with Arter but for how long?        Fraser replaces Stanislas for Bournemouth.

S.M at 2017-04-15 13:51:09
Foul by Stanislas on Alli. Free kick to Spurs. Referee again right on the spot.

S.M at 2017-04-15 13:43:42
Wiltshere off after receiving treatment and sensibly monitored by 4th Official. Wiltshere now being replaced by L.Cook.

S.M at 2017-04-15 13:41:16
Foul on Eriksen by Arter.  Referee uses Bournemouth captain to calm Arter who wasn't happy with the decision. Good, sensible man-management. of the situation.

S.M at 2017-04-15 13:38:15
A good flag by the Assistant for an offside offence. This indicates immediate high concentration by the Assistant.

S.M at 2017-04-15 13:36:08
Great position by the Referee to judge a challenge by Vertonghen was not illegal when he played the ball from behind his opponent.                                                        GOAL!   Kane scores to make it 3-0 to Spurs.

The first half has been a relatively "stroll in the park" for the Referee. Offences have been few and far between and most of them have been well judged and acted upon. However, it would be better to see a consistent approach when players are using an over-physical challenge on an opponent. As mentioned the challenges by Son and S.Cook were very similar and yet only the latter was penalised in the incident just prior to the first goal. Apart from this and the failure to penalise Walkers shirt pull, the Referee has had a trouble free first 45 minutes. Hopefull we will see more of the same throughout the second half.

When one team dominates play as Spurs are doing it is imperative that the Referee maintains concentration and still works hard to adopt positions which keep him as near to play as possible.

S.M at 2017-04-15 13:06:59
One or two strong challenges now taking place. The Referee needs to keep a close eye on these to ensure they do not become over physical.

S.M at 2017-04-15 13:01:18
Silly push by King on Davies rightly penalised.

S.M at 2017-04-15 12:59:03
A careless trip by Alli on Smith. Referee again well positioned to make a judgement. Dembele foul challenge on Arter. Correct award of free-kick to Bournemouth. A careless challenge by S.Cook on Kane. A good flag indication by the Assistant and hence an award of a free kick to Spurs.

S.M at 2017-04-15 12:54:31
The Referee perfectly positioned to detect the careless challenge by Dembele.  Being in close poximity gives added credibility to any decision.

S.M at 2017-04-15 12:49:48
GOAL!   Son increases the Spurs lead.

S.M at 2017-04-15 12:47:05
Walker has a pull on his opponent which is not penalised. As a Referee if you detect and penalise these minor offences it gives a clear message to players of your attitude. Judgement by the Referee that an offence had been committed by the Bournemouth defender and yet a similar challenge moments earlier by Son was  not penalised.   GOAL! Dembele fires Spuirs in front.

S.M at 2017-04-15 12:39:15
A good detection of ball out of play by the Assistant for a throw. Excellent judgement.

S.M at 2017-04-15 12:36:52
A little bit of backward running employed by the Referee to ensure he keeps play in view while moving to provide an open space in the midfield area. A quick flag by the Assistant to indicate an offside offence so the Referee could give an immediate whistle.

S.M at 2017-04-15 12:31:08
Spurs get the game under way on a sunny day in London.

S.M at 2017-04-15 12:29:06
The teams are in the tunnel and ready to move out onto the pitch. Another big crowd at White Hart Lane hoping to see another Spurs win while Bournemouth also need the points as they are only 7 points above the "trapdoor".
