SWANSEA V LIVERPOOL

SWANSEA V LIVERPOOL

Commentary By: MARK HALSEY

FINAL SCORE: 3 - 1
Even though there were no big key match incidents in this game, there were 6 yellows and 1 red card and nobody can have any complaints at the disciplinary action taken by Roger. Roger's recognition of foul non foul was excellent. His recognition of careless reckless was excellent. The players respect for Roger was excellent because of his good recognition on penal offences. This is the best I have seen Roger referee this season. He was supported well by his assistants. Good day at the office by all. WELL DONE.

MH at 2016-05-01 13:23:38
GOAL!S10. Bad defending by Liverpool.

MH at 2016-05-01 13:22:20
The intensity always goes up when a goal is scored. It’s important that the referee senses this and goes up with it.

MH at 2016-05-01 13:21:20
GOAL!L9. Header from a corner kick. Game on.

MH at 2016-05-01 13:20:44
Surprised the assistant CH did not  flag S10 offside as he was definitely offside.

MH at 2016-05-01 13:17:33
Would of liked to have seen Roger delay the taking of the corner and speak to both sets of players regarding holding and pulling before the ball came over.

MH at 2016-05-01 13:14:37
L9 looking for a penalty after being challenged by S6 NO chance.

MH at 2016-05-01 13:13:54
At present Roger has full respect of the players and that comes with correct decision making.

MH at 2016-05-01 13:12:26

MH at 2016-05-01 13:01:30
Swansea to get the second half underway.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:51:05
An excellent first half by Roger, we talk about team’s having their talk’s at half time as a referee it is important you have your team talk, as I use to , I could imagine Roger saying to his team second half we need to do exactly the same as the first we need to keep fully focused and our concentration levels at a high just like we did in the first half.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:46:45
Swansea lead 2-0.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:34:23
GOAL!S24, excellent strike.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:33:54
As a referee it’s important to have correct recognition of foul non foul otherwise if you don’t player’s get frustrated with you and could be detrimental to your control.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:31:38
Pleasing to see Roger’s acceleration after a quick break away by Swansea.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:30:25
Another important save by the Liverpool keeper.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:28:58
Great to see the applause in the 27 minute for #JFT96, remembering 27 years ago.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:28:01
Yellow CardL44. Another late challenge on S15. I was correct that his next late challenge by L44 would be a yellow.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:26:16
Good save by the Liverpool goal keeper to spot Swansea going 2 up.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:23:47
Two excellent decisions by Roger East. Liverpool player just ran into S2 no penalty and then an excellent challenge on L15 outside the box. No player reaction what so ever.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:21:52
Swansea fully deserve their lead after a good header by S10

MH at 2016-05-01 12:20:48
GOAL!S10 AYEW.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:18:57
Once again a correct free kick, Foul by S2 on L15 for a pull back.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:17:50
Foul by L37 on S10 correct free kick. Although L37 wasn’t happy.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:14:58
With the heavy rain now coming down I think it will make it difficult for Roger in recognition of challenges for the ball. He will have to be fully focused and aware of what is going on around him.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:12:06
I always say you get that chance to stamp your authority on the game, that doesn’t need to be with a caution, it can also be with a public rebuke of the player as Roger has just done.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:09:54
Good man management with L44 after challenge on S15. I think he was correct not to show a yellow card, but sure he will caution him on his next late challenge.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:07:25
Good recognition of non foul by Roger.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:05:30
Roger will be tuning into the early match tempo of the game.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:04:18
Offside given by AN.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:03:30
S24 not happy with referee, thought he should of had an early free kick.

MH at 2016-05-01 12:00:12
Liverpool to get us underway.

MH at 2016-05-01 11:59:24

Good afternoon and welcome to all our viewers for the first of our ref cam games today Swansea V Liverpool. Swansea will be looking to continue their home form after defeating Chelsea 1-0 in their previous home game and secure their Premier League survival as they are not mathematically safe. On the other hand Liverpool will want to continue their fine league form under Jurgen Klopp who has been sensational for Liverpool and hopefully go on and win the Europa Cup and qualify for the Champions League. Today’s referee is Roger East who took charge of this fixture last season. Roger upset Jurgen Klopp when Liverpool played in the FA Cup replay against West Ham and said the referee was inconsistent. Roger will be looking not to upset anyone this afternoon, that’s all you want as a modern day referee, but unfortunately that is never the case. Roger has refereed 23 Premier League games to date showing 63 yellow cards at an average of 2.7 per game, with no red cards shown so far this season. He will be assisted by Constantine Hatzidakis, he will be technical side, Adam Nunn and 4th official will be the experienced Kevin Friend.
