Summary: This could be described as a game of two halves. Swansea had the better of the first 45 minutes, having the majority of the possession and creating the better goalscoring opportunities but without success. Liverpool defended doggedly and showed their determination with two cautions. However, the second half belonged to Liverpool who raised the tempo and intensity and had more possession which put Swansea under a lot of pressure. This being said; the only goal was fortuitous with the ball canoning off the legs of Henderson and looping into goal. Thereafter the visitors got stronger and looked likely to increase their lead which in the event did not happen. The Officials made a good contribution to the game, allowing as much free-flowing football as possible while ensuring control was never in doubt. There were no “big” decisions required apart from the cautions which were fully warranted, although Naughton was fortunate not to also receive a yellow card. Overall, however, the officiating was of a good level with nobody talking about them. After all…you can only deal with situations that are put in front of you and that is what we have seen tonight. SM at 2015-03-16 22:53:04
Good teamwork shown between Referee and Assistant Scholes. Shelvey not happy with decision given by Assistant and Referee quickly moves over to give his colleague backing.
SM at 2015-03-16 22:50:44
Good flag by assistant Scholes for foul on Sterling. 4 minutes added time indicated by 4th Official.
SM at 2015-03-16 22:49:09

SM at 2015-03-16 22:47:50
Al the minor offenses are being spotted and penalised by the Referee.Sterling thought he was fouled and the ball was putout of play. Sportingly given back by Swansea.. Liverpool substitution as they seek to see out the game. Johnson for Lallana.
SM at 2015-03-16 22:40:59
The Officials are clearly maintaining concentration at a high level. Control is still at a high level while the Referee is hardly being noticed. He is being very sensitive to the needs of the game and this is adding to the flowing game we are witnessing. Swansea substitution Dyer for Ki.
SM at 2015-03-16 22:35:44
A rare Swansea attack comes to nothing when the Referee rightly awards Liverpool a free kick following a foul on Sterling.,
SM at 2015-03-16 22:33:47
Liverpool have certainly upped the tempo so Swansea make a substitution, Montero for Routledge.
SM at 2015-03-16 22:30:28
Good flag by Assistant Scholes when Sturridge is fouled just outside the penalty area. Once again the Referee uses the spray marker.
SM at 2015-03-16 22:28:49
Another Liverpool attack and Referee moves well to obtain a close viewing position. Good movement by the Referee. Liverpool get a lucky break with a deflection off Henderson to take the lead
SM at 2015-03-16 22:24:15
Desperate defense by Swansea enables therm to eventually clear their lines. They have a respite with a freekick for a careless minor offence by Lallana. Liverpool substitution Gerrard for Moreno.
SM at 2015-03-16 22:20:53
Assistant Parry detects and indicates offence committed by Gomis. Leads to another Liverpool attack which is repelled.. Play is end to end and now a free-kick to Swansea in a dangerous position. The Referee uses the white spray marker to position the ball and the defensive 10 yards wall. Swansea harass and force a cornerkick. Referee takes up position on edge of penalty area to get a clear view of the goal mouth action.
SM at 2015-03-16 22:15:56
Liverpool seem to have moved up a gear and are putting pressure on Swansea. A succession of corner kicks but come to nothing.
SM at 2015-03-16 22:13:25
Aggressive challenge by Moreno when attacking a cross from Sterling. He needs to be careful having just been cautioned.
SM at 2015-03-16 22:11:07
An early opportunity missed by the Referee but Moreno correctly cautioned for a late tackleso the Referee was fortunate there.

Naughton challenge on Lallana was a little bit late. Should have been a caution? What are your thoughts? Contact us on Twitter @youaretheref or e-mail us at Info@you-are-the-ref.com

Liverpool get the second half underway. Swansea have started the second half with 10 men… Gomis was late entering the field of play because he was changing his boots. Isn’t 15 minutes long enough? First free-kick of the half to Swansea
SM at 2015-03-16 21:56:52
The first half has seen the home team have the majority of the possession and create the better scoring opportunities but with a combination of good goal;keeping and dogged defending the visitors have managed to keep their goal intact. The Referee has been able to keep control fairly easily, having taken the early opportunity to assert authority with a 6 minute caution and then re-asserting authority with a further caution midway through the half. Both cautions were expected and warranted and assisted in allowing a good standard of control to be achieved. Let’s hope the Officials can remain focused and produce a similar performance during the second half. Join us again after your half-time cuppa.

Good throw decision given by Assistant Scholes. The Referee brings the first half to a close.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:49:16
1 minute added time is displayed by the 4th Official.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:47:13
Good advantage applied by the Referee with a clear positive arm signal to let everyone know his attitude. Hopefully he manages to have a “quiet word” with the Swansea player involved .
SM at 2015-03-16 21:43:40
An excellent save by Mignolet denies Swansea a goal. The Referee takes action to prevent the pushing and shoving that is always in evidence at the taking of a corner kick. We will see if his verbal management has the desired effect.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:40:33
Careless foul by Lallana is duly penalised. Nothing much is escaping the Referee’s attention so far. Let’s hope this continues when the tempo increases as it surely will.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:38:17
Again the Referee deals with a quick counter attack very well with the introduction of an appreciable sprint. So far his fitness is looking ok.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:35:21
A very entertaining game with Swansea giving has god as they get. Let us have your thoughts throughout the game on You-Are-The-Ref.com
SM at 2015-03-16 21:32:28
This is another opportunity sensibly and correctly taken by the Referee to assert authority. A card was expected for the challenge and was duly given. Good stuff so far. Hopefully the standard will be maintained.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:30:09
Sturridge becomes the second Liverpool player to receive a yellow card following a reckless challenge.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:28:58
The Referee has detected all of the minor careless challenges that are being committed and has had no choice but to stop play and award free-kicks.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:26:40
Good judgement of a tackle on Sturridge which appeared to be a trip but which was in fact a good challenge.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:24:36
The Referee is tending to drop slightly behind play in midfield but is able to introduce an appreciable acceleration to get into a good viewing position when play moves forward. Good communication by the Referee with Moreno following an accidental collision. Sensible man-management of the situation.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:19:11
The game is moving quickly from end to end and this is testing the Referee’s ability to remain within a reasonable distance of play. So far he is coping very well.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:17:36
Of course the Liverpool captain has now to be careful not to transgress further for the next 80 minutes or he could find himself being dismissed. The Referee will be aware of the situation and needs to manage the player to ensure further actions is not needed.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:14:01
It is encouraging that the Referee recognised and took the opportunity to assert authority even though the game was only 6 minutes in. If the offence warrants such action then time on the clock should not be a defining point. Now the Referee can build on his correct and sensible action.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:10:29
A very early yellow card for Henderson following a reckless sliding tackle. This has enabled the Referee to achieve an early assertion of authority
SM at 2015-03-16 21:08:30
The Referee again able to penalise a careless challenge and award a free kick. Two offences. two good decisions. So far so good.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:05:54
The Referee gives an immediate free kick to Swansea following a careless challenge by Henderson. An early decision for the Referee. The first corner of the game to Liverpol comes to nothing.
SM at 2015-03-16 21:03:40
Roger East gets the game underway with Swansea kicking off.
SM at 2015-03-16 20:58:17
The teams are in the tunnel and are ready to enter the field of play. The Officials will have checked for jewelry and inspected the players’ footwear, hence we are almost ready for the off in what ought to be an interesting and entertaining game. Liverpool will be desperate to keep their good run going to keep their hopes of a top four finish alive but will not find it easy at the Liberty stadium as the home team will want to give a positive response following their recent 3-2 defeat at Spurs.
