SUMMARY     This was a game between two teams who liked to attack on the break which gave fast end to end play. The fitness of the Referee was tested to the full and Bobby Madley did really well, until he became unable to continue, in always being able to introduce an appreciable acceleration to achieve positions which were always appropriate for the passages of play. Jon Moss had to quickl;y get into the pattern of the game and he did reasonably well. Offences were all of a minor clumsy type which never needed anymore action other than to award a free-kick. Jon Moss didn’t always recognise (or chose to ignore) some of these but fortunately this did not threaten the level of control that was achieved. Both Assistants gave good co-operation in ensuring a high standard of teamwork were demonstrated. Overall both teams will be satisfied with a point each and from an Officials point of view nobody will be talking unduly about their performance. Thanks for joining me throughout todays game. Don’t forget further RefCam matches with West Ham v Liverpool today at 5.30pm and Manchester City v Arsenal and Chelsea v Manchester Utd tomorrow at 2.15pm and 4.30pm respectively.

Another foul on Maguire hence a Leicester free-kick. Iheanacho puts the ball in the net but is clearly in an offside decision so no goal. Correct decision. 4 additional minutes to be played. Foul by Iheanacho. No advantage so a free-kick awarded to Stoke.

at 2017-11-04 15:16:14

Silly free-kick conceded by Iheaanacho. Good signal by AR1 .  Foul by Shaqiri gives Leicester a free-kick.Foul by Diouf on Morgan.  Stoke substitution Berahino for Diouf.

at 2017-11-04 15:10:18

Good flag by AR1 when Diouf fouls Maguire leads to a Leicester free-kick.  Leicester substitution Albrighton for Gray.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 15:05:56

Good flag signal by AR2 to ensure Stoke are awarded a free-kick following a minor offence by Leicester attacker.  Another good  decision by AR2 when Vardy is offside.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 15:03:35

Corner for Stoke and GOAL! by Crouch ties the score once again.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 15:02:02

A good offside judgement by AR2 . Maguire all over Crouch but no free-kick awarded by John Moss even though he was well positioned to judge the challenge. Disappointing.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 14:59:19

Difficult judgement by AR1 as Maguire attempted to play a ball crossed into the Leicester penalty area. Slow motion replay show the Leicester defender may well have got a very slight touch as the ball flew across the penalty area.Stoke substitution Crouch for Subhi.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 14:56:14

Leicester playing with ten men as Iborra has left the pitch with an injury. Leicester finally manage to make the substitution with King replacing Iborra.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 14:53:56

Jon Moss has the experience to know when he is able to adopt a stationary position to wait while play developes but can then move quickly if necessary.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 14:50:40

Good offside judgement and flag by AR2.   Leicester substitution…Iheanacho for Okazaki.  GOAL! by Mahrez regains the lead for Leicester

S.M. at 2017-11-04 14:46:07

Jon Moss sensibly conserving energy when the ball is out of play.  Essential when introduction of quick bursts of speed are required during the game.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 14:41:35

No advantage following foul by Wimmer so play sensibly stopped and the original offence penalised.  A good decision by AR2 to indicate a corner kick to Leicester. Pieters upends Mahrez and free-kick awarded to Leicester.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 14:27:47

A game in which both teams like to attack on the break has given fast end to end football which in turn has tested the fitness of the Referee. Bobby Madley did extremely well for 20 minutes before having to retire with what may be a muscle injury. Jon Moss had to take over and quickly get into the pattern of the game but he has coped pretty well in being reasonably well positioned when having to make a judgement. he has missed one clear foul on Mahrez but that apart he has maintained the level of control that Bobby Madley had achieved. If the fast pace of the game continues then the Referees fitness will be really tested in the latter stages. Hopefully Jon Moss will be able maintain the level of movement that will be needed. Join us for the second half to see what unfolds. Just time for a quick cuppa before the restart.

Half Time

S.M. at 2017-11-04 14:18:19

Another good detection of push by Choups-Moting on opponent hence award of free-kick to Leicester.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 14:16:29

Good detection of a push in the back by Fuchs and award of free-kick to Stoke.  4 minutes additional time being played this half. due to change of Referee.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 14:13:48

Jon Moss rightly ensures the ball is in the corner arc for a Leicester corner kick. It’s good to get the technical bits spot on but this has to be backed up by getting the physical illegal offences correct.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 14:09:09

GOAL! by Shaqiri levels the score.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 14:07:21

This is end to end football and testing the Referees fitness. So far so good from Jon Moss.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 14:03:57

A corner kick to Leicester leads to the first goal of the game. GOAL! by Iborra for Leicester.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 14:01:06

A quick Leicester counter-attack tests Jon Moss’s finess who does well to get up with play to award Leicester a corner kick.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 13:57:25

Challenge on Mahrez goes unpunished when a free-kick was warranted. However. the next passage of play does see Mahrez fouled and a free-kick awarded

S.M. at 2017-11-04 13:53:59

It appears that Bobby Madley has suffered some sort of injury and is having to leave the pitch to be replaced by Jon Moss. Hopefully the substitute referee (Jon Moss) will be able to show the fitness to deal with the end to end passages of play that we have seen.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 13:50:43

It is noted that AR2 is not always in-line with the second rearmost defender. It is essential as an Assistant that you are always aware of the exact position of the defender.    Foul on Gray by two Stoke defenders. The Referee right on the spot to award the free-kick to Leicester.  A quick counter-attack tests the Referees fitness but he copes very well to quickly get up with play.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 13:41:57

Good movement by Referee when play switches quickly ensures he his well up with play. A good standard of fitness noted so far. Hopefully this will be maintained throughout. Minor foul by Okazaki correctly penalised by the Referee.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 13:39:27

Foul by Ndidi gives a free-kick to Stoke. Minor offence committed by Fletcher so a free-kick to Leicester in quick succession.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 13:36:38

First corner of the game to Leicester following a quick counter attack. Referee introduces a good acceleration to make up ground to be within a reasonable distance of play.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 13:34:17

The first free-kick goes to Leicester following a minor foul by Wimmer. The Referee very well positioned to judge the offence.

S.M. at 2017-11-04 13:31:07

The teams enter the field of play and 1 minutes silence is observed impeccably.
