Real Madrid v Sevilla

at 2014-08-12 21:55:25

In summary – Mark and his team have all given an excellent all round performance this evening. Mark has displayed excellent fitness levels throughout with his close proximity to play and reading of player challenges. His management of players and consistent application of laws of the game ( all 3 yellow cards for reckless challenges ) was a real feature of his performance tonight. He allowed the game to flow whenever he could and his team all followed his leadership throughout. Both Assistants were correct in their offside judgements, and good movement and flag technique was in evidence throughout. Additional Assistant Referees also assisted in particular with goal / corner kick judgements / situations. The 4th Official carried out his role in an effective and low key manner. Well done to Mark and team tonight on a job very well done! Best wishes to you all for the season ahead.

Mark blows his whistle to signal the commencement of the 2nd half

at 2014-08-12 20:43:28

Mark and his team will be particularly pleased in the way that they have managed the first half, the challenges to Mark arose just before the end of the half and this saw Mark raise his profile in his correct showing of 2 yellow cards to Vitolo of Sevilla and Carvajal of Real Madrid for reckless challenges. The Match Officials will now be reflecting on the 1st half what has gone well and more importantly TO BUILD ON THIS REALLY POSITIVE HALF. There will also be a discussion around team tactics, game tempo, players and the match plan for the remainder of the game. Plenty of fluid will also be taken in preparation for the demands that the 2nd half will bring.

As we build up to tonight’s fascinating Super Cup tie – European champions Real Madrid are  to field the world’s most expensive strikeforce – including local Welsh hero Gareth Bale – when they play Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup at the Cardiff City Stadium tonight.

Three months after winning the all-Spanish Champions League final against Atletico Madrid in Lisbon, Real and Europa League winners Sevilla meet in an all-Spanish Super Cup match with the home fans delighted to be able to watch Bale in his home city.

He joined Real for a world record £85 million from Tottenham Hotspur a year ago and will play in a £240m trio with Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez as the Madrid side seek to win the Super Cup for the first time since 2002.

Ronaldo signed for £80m from Manchester United in 2009 while Colombian Rodriguez, the Golden Boot winner at this year’s World Cup, cost about £63m when he joined from AS Monaco after the tournament. Real also signed German World Cup winner Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich for around £30m this summer.
