Congratulations to Andre Marriner and his team for bringing the game to a safe and successful conclusion. Thanks for tuning in and stay with us for our coverage of the Manchester derby which kicks-off at 4pm, with Mark Clattenburg in charge. Also, why not tune in this evening, KO 10pm, when the game between Portland Timber v Orlando City continues our new venture in featuring games from the MLS.

So how would you rate the referee’s performance on this game? Perhaps to the untrained eye he had “nothing to do”, but did he have nothing to do because of the accuracy of his penal offence and restart decisions which meant that the players trusted him to make the correct decisions, which in turn meant that his match control was never in doubt. If you give the players nothing to complain, then by and large they won’t complain.

There’s the sting – Fabregas comes up with the goods to steal all 3 points perhaps …….

Thanks to @leerefpoole for your tweet, which incident do you mean Lee ?
RCT at 2015-04-12 15:05:41
Once again, Andre Marriner well placed to correctly issue Sandro with a caution ….
RCT at 2015-04-12 15:02:01
Zamora takes “one for the team” as we say …..
RCT at 2015-04-12 14:58:53
let’s see the final 20 minutes can produce a goal, it could do with one, we predict a sting in the tale in between now and 3.15 !
RCT at 2015-04-12 14:51:29
This is still anyone’s game, with QPR coming close on this occasion …
RCT at 2015-04-12 14:48:01
That was about right in terms of overall match control Drogba deserved his yellow card for that reckless challeneg ..
RCT at 2015-04-12 14:44:18
One of the referee’s main attributes so far this afternoon has been his ability to communicate with the players. He’s not talking at them he’s talking to them and they appear to be accepting his decisions and getting on with the game. This is an object lesson for any up-and-coming referees on how to manage the players.
RCT at 2015-04-12 14:40:31
Terry v Zamora, there’s a couple of wizened old Pros to say the least …..
RCT at 2015-04-12 14:38:42
Andre Marriner has now had 3 separate “quiet words” with QPR players, are you happy that this low-profile approach continues, or would you like to see him issue a more formal sanction? Let us know, contact us on Twitter @youaretheref or email us at Info@you-are-the-ref.com.

The 1st 10 minutes of the second-half is going to be key to the match officials control, all is going well so far – let’s hope it stays that way!

So far an object lesson on not being involved because you don’t have to be involved …..
RCT at 2015-04-12 14:17:41
How do you think Andre Marriner and his team are doing so far, let us know by tweeting us @youaretheref

During half-time, why not go to our news section and read Alan Biggs’ article on “Refs getting it right” http://you-are-the-ref.com/refs-getting-it-right-as-a-matter-of-choice-alan-biggs-reports/. On Grand National weekend, isn’t it as straightforward as “horses for courses”
RCT at 2015-04-12 14:15:23
And now it’s time for the Home Team to be dominant
RCT at 2015-04-12 14:13:09
Chelsea have started to dominate as we approach the half-time interval…
RCT at 2015-04-12 14:05:43
However the ‘quiet word’ with Sandro was good refereeing, especially having applied the advantage clause ……
RCT at 2015-04-12 14:04:18
Free-kick or advantage – perhaps with players of Chelsea’s skill level, a ceremonial fee-kick would have been the better option
RCT at 2015-04-12 14:02:00
30 minutes gone and the refereeing team will be delighted that they have been able to keep low-key and retain match control …. Keep it going gentlemen.
RCT at 2015-04-12 13:59:24
Andre Narriner having an appropriate “quiet word” with Joey Barton, that is always good to see in terms of management of the players and to prove to everyone that the referee is aware of potential misconduct
RCT at 2015-04-12 13:57:31
Premier League of WWF Wresting, sometimes I wonder ……….
RCT at 2015-04-12 13:54:05
No complaints from Chelsea, the referee had clearly indicated whether throw must be taken from, and when Ivanvic transgressed, the referee was perfectly within his rights to award the throw-in in the other direction
RCT at 2015-04-12 13:50:57
Contrast this to Michael Oliver and Mark Clattenburg who tend to penetrate the penalty area as plays develop – what do you think is best, Contact us on Twitter @youaretheref or email us at Info@you-are-the-ref.com
RCT at 2015-04-12 13:49:22
Interesting to see the referee adopting a position just outside the penalty area as play develops into the penalty area, he is standing still when the decision needs to be made, which is best practice, and approximately 10-15 metres from the incident, which is ideal ……
RCT at 2015-04-12 13:44:24
A good early accurate offside decision by Scott Ledger, routine, but it’s always good to get your first decision out of the way
RCT at 2015-04-12 13:42:55
Good ‘safe’ refereeing by Andre Marriner, to award a back pass offence would have been controversial.
RCT at 2015-04-12 13:40:54
The contrast of style is interesting, long ball from QPR, Chelsea adopting a more measured approach, something for Andre Marriner to be mindful of ….
RCT at 2015-04-12 13:38:00
It’s been a good solid start for the team of match officials, no concerns so far! But the wind is going to play a part.
RCT at 2015-04-12 13:30:20
Well done to our own Alan Biggs for completing the Sheffield Half Marathon this morning
RCT at 2015-04-12 13:26:57
The good citizens of Hull and Sunderland will be hoping that Chelsea continue their recent run of form with a win which will keep QPR in the relegation zone; a win for QPR will see them jump to 16th in the Premiership table.
RCT at 2015-04-12 13:26:19
It will be interesting to see if there are any repercussions for John Terry. The Chelsea captain returns to the ground where he was embroiled in allegations of racial abuse following his comments to Anton Ferdinand which eventually cost him the England captaincy. However ugly that episode was, it is one worth remembering for the lessons it offered to the game and those who play it.
RCT at 2015-04-12 13:24:56
The refereeing team for this afternoon are very experienced; Andre Marriner is in charge, carrying on his comeback from a recent injury, with Scott Ledger and World Cup Final Match Official Darren Cann ‘running the line’. Even more experience on the sidelines with Martin Atkinson on 4th official duties, having refereed at West Brom yesterday.

Welcome to Loftus Road …..
