QPR v ASTON VILLA

QPR v ASTON VILLA

Commentary By: SM

FINAL SCORE: 2 - 0

at 2014-10-27 23:00:48

Summary.: This was an entertaining game with Aston Villa having as much of the play as the home team. The difference was the home team managed to take their chances while the visitors found the home goalkeeper in excellent form and hence were unable to capitalise on the opportunities that they created. From the Officials point of view the game was controlled in a very “low key” manner with assertion of authority being accomplished without any difficulty. The two cautions were completely justified and were expected for the offences committed. Good co-operation between Assistants and Referee was evident throughout with good eye contact and no doubt sensible use of the communication equipment. The Referee adopted positions which were always appropriate for the phases of play and was able to inject an appreciable acceleration when necessary when play moved quickly from end to end so that he was always “on the spot” when a judgement and decision had to be made. There were no contentious decisions and the officials can feel very happy with their overall contribution to the evenings entertainment. Well done. Thanks for being with us this evening.

Sorry…substituion for QPR now: Hoilett for Zamora. Think Harry Rednapp did it just to confuse me in talking to Henry on the touchline earlier with Hoilett waiting

The Referee has confidence to walk when appropriate as play developes. You don’t always need to run around like a “headless chicken”

at 2014-10-27 22:09:13

Appela for a penalty by QPR when the ball brushed a Villa players hand. Ball came of the Villa defenders chest so another correct judgement by the Referee.

at 2014-10-27 21:54:10

Halt-time summary:

A fairly “low key” game with very few fouls being committed and those all being of a minor nature. Although the home team lead 1-0 the visitors have had more attempts on goal and hence will feel they can still get something out of this game in the second half. The Officials have been almost invisible throughout while getting every decision correct. However, they must maintain a high level of concentration so that control can be maintained at the high level we have witnessed so far. Well done lads…keep it up. Cup of tea time.

Stoppage in play while Weimann gets attention. Good empathy by the Referee. Accidental collision

at 2014-10-27 21:38:24

A lot of “head tennis” taking place with the Referee holding a static midfield position to see what the outcome would be. Very sensible reading of the phase of play.

at 2014-10-27 21:36:35

Good save by QPR goalkeeper to prevent an equaliser

at 2014-10-27 21:36:01

A QPR attack with the Referee moving out wide then sensibly adjusting position toward the central edge of the penalty area when the ball was played back in from the right wing. This ensured he always had the best view of play

Clear offside decision . Notice the clear arm signal by the Referee and held until the ball was next played.

at 2014-10-27 21:15:12

Referee a little too close to play in midfield and almost in the way. A little bit better reading of play required?

at 2014-10-27 21:11:50

Notice how the Referee is not afraid to hold position in midfield to let play develope.

Corner kick to Aston Villa but well cleared then Benteke offside and a prompt positive signal given by Assistant McDonough

Welcome to our coverage of the Premier League match between QPR and Aston Villa from Loftus Road. The home team have lost 4 and drawn one of their last 5 games while the visitors have  won one and lost 4. QPR will have gained confidence from their last game when they were unlucky to lose to Liverpool 2-3 with a goal deep into added time and will be looking for a similar performance to keep in touch with other teams at the bottom of the table.
