As I said earlier neither team would be happy with a point but I think Norwich would be far happier with the point than Manchester City who are in danger of dropping out of the Champions League qualifying places for the first time this season and they won’t want that. They seem to have lost their killer instinct in winning football matches this season. As for referee Jon Moss who has come under a fair amount of criticism this season from all quarters, well,  he won’t be getting non from me today, although I said at the start of the game his body language wasn’t right for me he went on to referee this game excellently. He showed a total of 4 yellow cards, stamping his authority on the game in the 12th minute with a caution to NC24 with a reckless challenge on his opponent thus showing the players that he would not tolerate this kind of challenge hence gaining the respect of the players. I thought his recognition of foul non foul, careless and reckless challenges was first class today. He wasn’t fussy, he let the game flow, he had the quiet word when needed, I feel his fitness and movement has improved. Although there were no big key match decisions for him to preside over, you can only referee what’s in front of you. Jon can go home very very happy with his performance today. His 2 assistants also assisted him very well. An  excellent day at the office for all match officials.

MH at 2016-03-12 15:28:42

Neither side can afford to drop points in this game, Leicester City will be well pleased with this nil nil score line at present. I have to say I would love to see Leicester City win the title.

Substitution for MC, MC15 OFF, MC72 ON.

MH at 2016-03-12 15:20:50

Referee Jon Moss has carried on in the second half where he left off in the first. His positing and movement is very good, also his reading  and anticipation of play is very good, that’s why he is getting himself into good positions to view.

MH at 2016-03-12 15:16:13

Yellow CardNC8 on MC25. Clear caution for stopping a promising attack with a deliberate trip.

MH at 2016-03-12 15:15:28

Pleasing to see Jon keeping his focus and concentration levels at a high.

MH at 2016-03-12 15:14:44

This past week YRTR team held an International development course involving a group of American referees at The Etihad Training Complex in Manchester. I know they are tuned in to this blogging session, 2 of the referees seem to be in a disagreement in the caution of NC28, let me tell you fellows it is a nailed on caution, and if you did not caution that challenge in one of your games I would want to know why!!!!!!!!!! Hope your are all having a good day in your land lol

MH at 2016-03-12 15:09:47

Substitution’s for NC, NC14 OFF, NC9 ON and NC11 OFF,NC10 ON.

MH at 2016-03-12 15:08:54

Well done Jon that’s a foul all day long by NC.

MH at 2016-03-12 15:08:10

Foul on MC10 by NC17, referee given free kick just outside the box. Correct decision. Not a caution as it was only a careless challenge and Jon was in a great position to see that the challenge was outside the box.

MH at 2016-03-12 15:04:05

Another good free kick by Jon Moss.

MH at 2016-03-12 15:03:40

Correct decision free kick against MC30, well don Jon no other action needed to be taken but MC 30 needs to be careful as he is already on a caution.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:53:30

Yellow CardNC28, and it is… Correct yellow card for a clear pull back stopping a promising attack on MC10.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:52:11

That has to be a yellow card.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:51:51

Second half has started how the first half finished. Hopefully we will see a goal soon. A point is no good to either team.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:50:27

Corner to MC.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:47:26

MC to kick off the second half.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:43:59

Sorry for the spelling error should say referee Jon Moss not John, going to sack my assistant just realised.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:35:21

A very entertaining first half, chances both ends, 2 cautions administered one for each team and a very good performance by referee John Moss. Let’s hope he doesn’t drop his standards for the second half.

Substitution for Norwich, NC18 ON,  NC22 OFF.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:29:14

Also pleasing to see John having a quiet word with NC11 after a challenge. Maintaining his control by letting players know he has seen the incident.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:28:00

Hand ball given by John, Free kick to Norwich. Its always easy to give those outside the box.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:25:18

This game has had everything apart from a goal.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:24:53

What a great shot by NC11 unlucky not to take the lead, the cross bar comes to the rescue of MC.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:23:56

Off side given by Stuart Burt.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:19:51

MC 25 lucky not to receive a yellow card for a reckless challenge. Having said that John Moss’s recognition of foul non foul is very good.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:14:54

The tempo of the game is rising, pleasing to see John Moss is on top of it at the moment as he is letting the game flow as well.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:13:39

Another great save by NC keeper.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:12:30

MH at 2016-03-12 14:06:13

Pleasing to see John getting into some good viewing positions, through his positioning and movement.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:02:21

This game brings back memories for me as it was my last ever Premier league game as a referee and both teams were excellent with me on a very emotional day.

MH at 2016-03-12 14:00:24

John Moss had a great view of it. Good save by NC keeper.

MH at 2016-03-12 13:59:43

Free kick to MC after a foul by NC28, clear foul.

MH at 2016-03-12 13:59:09

Going back to the caution for NC24 it was good to see the referee allow play to go on then go back and caution him.

MH at 2016-03-12 13:58:22

Second challenge by NC5 on MC21, John has to be aware of what is going on. Are they targeting the MC player.

MH at 2016-03-12 13:57:14

Yellow CardN24,Reckless challenge on MC21 rightly cautioned.

MH at 2016-03-12 13:55:20

Good off side by Andy Halliday.

MH at 2016-03-12 13:52:23

Sound interpretation by referee on hand ball not given.

MH at 2016-03-12 13:51:41

Foul by NC5 on MC21. Careless challenge well managed by John by speaking to the Norwich player.

MH at 2016-03-12 13:50:36

Couple of good early fouls given by John.

MH at 2016-03-12 13:50:11

You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

MH at 2016-03-12 13:49:40

Body language is part of a referees makeup in controlling football matches. John  Moss collecting the ball with his head and shoulders down looking into the floor as he walked out tells me that we have a referee that is not confident. So all you young referees out there you walk out with your head held high and your chest out.

MH at 2016-03-12 13:45:16

Norwich to get the first underway.

MH at 2016-03-12 13:42:21

Good afternoon and welcome to ref cam for the lunch time kick off. Norwich will be looking to avenge their narrow 2-1 defeat at The Etihad earlier in the season thank’s to a late Yaya Toure penalty. Both teams will be looking for 3 points for different reason’s, Norwich trying to avoid relegation and Manchester City chasing Leicester who are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League. So I think we will see an entering game with plenty of goals.

Today’s referee is John Moss who in recent weeks has got some key match decisions wrong. If there is an area I would like to see John improve it would be in this area. Yes, I agree we all make mistakes but not as many as we are seeing week in week out. John has taken charge of 19 games to date showing 59 yellow cards at an average of 3.1 and 5 red cards. John will be assisted by Andy Halliday ( Technical area ), Stuart Burt and Robert Madley 4th official.

Lets hope our match officials have a super afternoon.
