I’ve written some difficult match summary’s this season so far, but its with great pleasure that i salute Mike Dean and his team on an excellent afternoon’s work! There is nothing that i would take issue with, his control from minute one was never in doubt, he was well prepared and made his presence felt early with the caution of   Laurent Koscielny, this wasn’t the only occasion when the Referee allowed play to continue before going back to take disciplinary action. Mike seldom got caught up in play and yet was always close at hand to deliver his decisions. The key match incident of the game was correctly called as Kompany blocked Monreal inside the City penalty area, good decision! The second half was equally impressive where the Referee maintained his high first half standards. He was supported by two impressive Assistants who can take much satisfaction from this game,I particularly note John Brooks mobility and alertness   to signal a second half City corner and that  Ospina had kept the ball in play, both times he was ideally placed on the Goal line, well done! All of the morning headlines will go to Arsenal, but for me this game will mark the best Refcam Refereeing performance i’ve seen so far this season, its gives me much satisfaction to say, the man of the match was Mike Dean!

Mike Dean well placed out wide to penalise a careless challenge by Silva

RH at 2015-01-18 18:49:21

only a couple of minutes to go as we view one of the most comprehensive Refereeing performances of the season so far!

RH at 2015-01-18 18:47:13

4 minutes added time to be played!

RH at 2015-01-18 18:46:00

Arsenal defend their 16th corner this game!

RH at 2015-01-18 18:45:09

John Brooks well placed on the goal line to see that Arsenal keeper David Ospina had kept the ball in play, well done!

RH at 2015-01-18 18:43:31

Great awareness by Mike Dean to see that Aguero was holding Kieran Gibbs off the ball, supberb Yellow Card

RH at 2015-01-18 18:41:34

Arsenal making substitutions that will see them playing five across the back!

RH at 2015-01-18 18:38:31

We’re looking for a strong final ten minutes plus added time from the Match Officials to crown their great work so far!

RH at 2015-01-18 18:37:11

Pressure mounts as City force another corner

RH at 2015-01-18 18:35:14

There’s more Premier League action coming your way on REFCAM, why not join us for tomorrow evening’s intriguing game between Everton and West Brom, will the ‘Pulis effect’ continue? There is FA Cup business on REFCAM next Sunday 25th January when Chris Houghton’s Brighton take on Arsenal, would be great to have you onboard for both games!

RH at 2015-01-18 18:33:53

Watching pictures of the Technical area you can see Assistant Referee Jake Collin bobbing up and down on his toes as play is in the other half. Just goes to show that all of Mike Deans team are  keeping switched on!

RH at 2015-01-18 18:31:53

You get the feeling that a City goal would make for an extremely tense closing period

RH at 2015-01-18 18:29:20

The advantage of Mike Dean’s ‘box to box’ patrol path is that he has been close to all midfield decision making, this has without doubt been the most contested area of the field of play

RH at 2015-01-18 18:25:51

So how will that goal affect the game now, will Arsenal revert to a tight shape? Will this see play more concentrated in the Arsenal half, if so Assistant John Brooks will be the more involved of the two AR’S

RH at 2015-01-18 18:23:41

GOAL!Giroud makes it 2-0 Arsenal!

RH at 2015-01-18 18:20:11

Good decision by John Brooks in signalling a ball of play for this City corner!

RH at 2015-01-18 18:19:11

A Referee can only control and manage the players discipline and respect in a game, what he cannot do of course is control the tactical aspect of the match with 22 players on the field, that’s why this is a very different game to Referee than it was in the first half

RH at 2015-01-18 18:16:37

The game has opened up very much, can’t see what advantage that is to Arsenal who were doing well in the tighter exchanges earlier, but from the Match Officials perspective its now physical as well as mental exertion that’s called for!

RH at 2015-01-18 18:14:21

Yellow Cardcaution for Bellerin again following an advantage

RH at 2015-01-18 18:11:45

Another good advantage played in that last City attack!

RH at 2015-01-18 18:11:18

Yellow CardFernandinho rightly cautioned for a midfield hand ball, why did he do it?

RH at 2015-01-18 18:09:56

Play rightly bought back as Fernandinho trips Oxlade-Chamberlain, no advantage, good Refereeing

RH at 2015-01-18 18:08:16

Mike Dean demonstrating a superb explosive sprint as that City attack built, corner to City!

RH at 2015-01-18 18:05:37

Both teams attacking on the break, didn’t see too of that in the first half!

RH at 2015-01-18 18:03:57

TV pictures supporting Mike Deans call to penalise Sergio Aguero  for handball

RH at 2015-01-18 18:02:01

The second half has started!

RH at 2015-01-18 17:54:22

A very strong first half performance by Mike Dean, who has been well supported by his team. So many times this season we’ve seen Refereeing performances marred by Referees being slow to react to incidents in the opening minutes of games, well not today! The Referee playing a great early advantage and then going back to cation Laurent Koscielny’s reckless challenge. A correct penalty call against Vincent Kompany with solid cations for Ramsey and then Kompany himself. Good work! lets all hope the second half goes well for the Referee and his team also

RH at 2015-01-18 17:48:50

Half Time

RH at 2015-01-18 17:46:39

Corner to City closes the half!

RH at 2015-01-18 17:45:50

one minute added time

RH at 2015-01-18 17:45:37

Vincent Kompany was obviously upset when being cautioned, good Refereeing that Mike Dean called him back and took the heat out of the situation by having calming word

RH at 2015-01-18 17:43:30

Yellow CardKompany blocking Giroud and receiving a caution for that and the previous block on Monreal that led to the Penalty, as the laws say ‘persistent infringement of the Laws of the Game’

RH at 2015-01-18 17:38:28

Yellow CardAaron Ramsey cautioned for a reckless lunge on Sergio Aguero

RH at 2015-01-18 17:36:12

RH at 2015-01-18 17:35:46

Good to see a grappling free corner to City!

RH at 2015-01-18 17:33:54

Really good first half hour from the Referee and his team!

RH at 2015-01-18 17:32:54

With Arsenal keeping their defensive formation so well, this has surprisingly been a tight game, the challenge for the Match officials is very much on mental focus than physical exertion at present, will that change?

RH at 2015-01-18 17:29:04

Jake Collin well placed to rule that the ball crossed the touch line much to Zabaleta’s displeasure!

RH at 2015-01-18 17:27:06

So will that goal change the game? will the teams keep their shape or will the game open up?

RH at 2015-01-18 17:25:53

Well Mike Dean called that penalty correctly, Monreal didn’t take much contact to go to ground but he was fouled

RH at 2015-01-18 17:24:13

GOAL!

Santi Cazorla coverts! 1-0 Arsenal

RH at 2015-01-18 17:23:23

Penalty! Monreal blocked by Kompany, good call!

RH at 2015-01-18 17:22:25

Mike Dean playing a couple of good advantages in that Arsenal attack

RH at 2015-01-18 17:19:03

Mike Dean showing his experience in that recent Arsenal attack as he allowed Alexis Sanchez to go around him and not get in the way!

RH at 2015-01-18 17:15:58

70% percent possession for City in the first 15 minutes, so Assistant Jake Collin has done plenty of looking along that defensive line so far!

RH at 2015-01-18 17:13:28

In tight games with disciplined formation the whole dynamic for the Assistants changes also as they maintain tight focus looking for that final ball played in the channels or crossed as opposed to a stretched game where ‘one on ones’ and pacy attacks occur

RH at 2015-01-18 17:10:39

the TV pundits picking up Arsenal’s good shape as they defend City, the Referee will need to take great care to avoid getting caught up in play if both teams maintain their shape,

RH at 2015-01-18 17:07:48

Strong explosive sprint by the Referee to track that last Arsenal attack!

RH at 2015-01-18 17:06:29

Pleasing to see that Mike Dean is well prepared and mentally alert for this game  Koscielny’s reckless challenge came very early, the players now know what to expect!

RH at 2015-01-18 17:04:47

Yellow CardOpening caution for Laurent Koscienlny following a great advantage played by Mike Dean, great start!

RH at 2015-01-18 17:03:05

Assistant Referee John Brooks with the yellow flag is operating on the far side and Assistant Referee Jake Collin with the red/yellow flag is on the near side

RH at 2015-01-18 17:00:12
