Analysis: A very entertaining game  which the home team will feel they should not have lost. They were the better team throughout the first half and overall created more goal-scoring opportunities but if you don’t score when you are on top then you often get punished and that is exactly what happened. The only real talking point is the penalty claim by Plymouth for handball by Luton No5 midway through the second half. Was the Referee’s view obstructed by players and if so was he in the best position? Could Assistant Ford have helped? What are your thoughts? However, the Referee worked well with his colleagues, applied advantage sensibly and this contributed the the flow of the game which was played at quite a fast pace. The Officials will feel pleased with their overall contribution to this League Two encountered. Well done lads.

SM at 2014-09-06 13:19:32
First Half Analysis: A fast paced game with the home team creating the better goal-scoring opportunities.  However, both goalkeepers have been forced to make good saves to prevent conceding a goal. The very early justifiable caution allowed the Referee to assert authority and set the level of control and consistency was evident with two further cautions. That said the Referee was keen to allow flow to the game and this was illustrated with some good examples of advantage. Positioning was generally good but on two occasions the Referee found himself too near play and in one instance almost setting up a goal for the home team when the ball bounced off him. Overall officials have been good. More of the same second half.

Today we are covering the Luton Town v Plymouth Argyle Sky Bet League two game from Kenilworth Road. Last season Luton were promoted back to the Football League as Conference Premier champions but have only gained one point from their opening two home games despite starting the campaign with a 1-0 win at Carlisle. Although Plymouth are eight places higher up the table, they are only two points better off and have lost both of their two away league games this season. Both teams will be looking to change these statistics so we should be in for an interesting match.
