Full Time

With due consideration, well done to Andre Marriner for his overall control of the game, he stepped up to the plate in the final 10 minutes and gave some commendable decisions when the temperature of the game rose – using his experience well to bring the game to a safe and successful conclusion.

RCT at 2015-10-25 19:07:00

Andre Marriner maintaining his standards in the closing seconds …..

RCT at 2015-10-25 19:06:12

Yellow CardA second yelllow and a justified Red for Mane Red Card

RCT at 2015-10-25 19:04:12

Yellow CardMane can have no complaints – he took one for the team …

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:59:40

GOAL! Mane equaliser’s, poor defending by Benteke playing the Saints striker onside !

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:58:18

Yellow CardGood refereeing,  a caution for Milner, fully justified ….

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:57:14

To Andre’s Marriner’s’ credit, very little has escaped his attention this afternoon …

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:50:09

Whoosh GOAL! – superb header from Benteke on the end of Milner’s quality cross !

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:47:46

It’ vital that the refereeing team don’t think that their work is done for the afternoon, the most important 15 minutes are ahead of them

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:46:16

15 minutes to go and it would appear that the game is fizzling out of steam ….

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:42:39

There’s a case in point, an incorrect call by the referee after Davis was pushed close to the touchline, had Andre Marriner been wider, would he have detected this ?

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:40:10

To be fair to Andre Marriner, his lack of width on his patrol path has not caused him any issues so far, let’s hope it stays that way …

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:35:58

Although Southampton are not out of this by a long way ….

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:35:14

The noise and the temperature are building in favour of the Home Team, typical Anfield ….

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:33:52

Another quality offside decision, this time against Sadio Mane

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:31:00

This is much more like a Premiership game – I predict the game;s first yellow card within the next 5 minutes ….

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:27:29

The game is much more positive in the opening 10 minutes of the second half, time to set up to the plate Mr. Referee

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:23:43

That’s a great offside call by Lee Betts, he had very little to do on the first half, good focus and concentration

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:21:13

Good early second half pressure from the Home Team

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:18:22

Half Time

Benteke on for the second half – that will change the dynamic …

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:06:12

Half Time

It’s almost like the game is going on around him and would he have the character and ‘presence’ to make a convincing and accurate key match decision ?

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:04:34

Half Time

I don’t think I’m being unfair to Andre Marriner, and he has done fine so far, but does he have the ‘presence’ of some of his Premier League colleagues, I would suggest not ….

RCT at 2015-10-25 18:03:36

Half Time

Not much to shout about from the first half at Anfield, in fact if you are watching in the UK, it’s been a bit of a conduit for your Sunday afternoon snooze …

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:58:10

5 to go, focus, focus, focus …..

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:51:15

10 minutes to half-time, just 2 shots on goal and 4 penal offences – we could do with a goal ….

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:48:12

I am not sure Jose Mourinho welcomed it’s intervention ….

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:46:33

It was good to see the goal line technology working so well at the West Ham v Chelsea game – no goal by a matter of centimeters – very accurate and an instant and correct decision relayed at speed to the match officials

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:43:35

In fairness to the players, so far no penal offences which have come anywhere near a caution – the discipline has been good …. you watch now I have said that ….

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:38:01

Half way through and It’s essential that the refereeing team remained focused in what is a very quite game, one look away can be crucial ……..

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:35:15

He should be moving with a wider diagonal and an ‘S’ patrol path taking him more towards the touchline as attacking plays develop

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:33:14

I do have a major concern that Andre Marriner’s patrol path is far too central, running as he does from ‘D’ to ‘D’ through the centre circle

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:26:07

Just 2 penal offences in the first 10 minutes of the game, all quiet so far and nothing to test the team of match officials

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:22:35

Let’s see is this effects his positioning and therefore his decision making

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:21:49

What strikes me immediately about Andre Marriner, when comparing him to Mark Clattenberg, Craig Pawson, Anthony Taylor and others is he does not look like the natural athlete.  His running style look laboured and his doesn’t appear to have a defined sprint

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:16:45

Here we go – good luck to the refereeing team

Pre Match

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:15:57

From the team at You Are The Ref’ experience of officiating at Anfield, the singing of THAT anthem gets the hairs on the back of your neck standing – there is nothing better in the game anywhere ….

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:13:41

Not wishing to tempt fate for Andre Marriner and his team – so far so good for the referees’ team this weekend.  Mike Jones set the tone with a eye-catching performance in the South Yorkshire derby at Rotherham United on Friday night, Mark Clattenburg showed his prowess and skill on this afternoon’s Manchester derby.

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:10:49

So – what conspiracy theory Jose? Ok, so you were unlucky that Fabregas’s “goal” was disallowed for offside, but Matic’s dismissal was totally justified and the dismissal of the manager and coach Louro tells it’s own story

RCT at 2015-10-25 17:08:14

It’s great that you have been so active on Twitter this afternoon @youaretheref.  Thanks to @jasonowen1866 @Shez_71 and @owls_4life for your contributions
