Great position to award the penalty kick which is duly converted by Murray GOAL!

82

RCT at 2015-05-16 19:12:58

Yellow CardJordan Mutch this time, the referee correctly recognising that Palace are trying to kill the game

81

RCT at 2015-05-16 19:11:19

Yellow CardConsistent from Jon Moss, McArthur this time ….

80

RCT at 2015-05-16 19:10:13

1-2, 10 minutes to go, the script says a 25 yard screamer equaliser from Liverpool’s #8 in front of the Kop  ………

RCT at 2015-05-16 19:07:22

Yellow CardCorrect again – totally justified caution for Palace #2 Ward

74

RCT at 2015-05-16 19:03:24

Positioning – positioning -positioning ,,,,, faultless …

70

RCT at 2015-05-16 19:00:15

Another great example of teamwork, Simon Bennett and Jon Moss clearly using the Comms Kit before awarding a corner to Palace ….

67

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:56:39

Every time the ball is played deep into the attacking third, the referee is in view – great stamina levels …..

64

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:53:56

Bolasie rattles the bar, that would have completely ruined the farewell party …..

62

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:52:06

Great man-management by Jon Moss as Henderson and Zaha play a game of “my dad is bigger then your dad”….

61

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:50:41

TV have reviewed the Palace goal, superb non offside decision by FIFA Assistant Referee Simon Bennett ….

59

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:48:31

GOAL! Zara – 2-1 – they have taken the lead ….

58

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:47:20

I have been impressed by Palace so far, their performance is worthy of a point ….

55

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:43:59

Another good penal offence decision by Jon Moss, Bolasie can have no complaints …..

48

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:39:54

I also liked the way he made a positive ‘cross-hands’ signal to turn away the appeal in a decisive manner …….

47

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:38:30

Jon Moss well positioned to recognise that Lee Chung-Yong made the most of that, but not enough for simulation…..

Good to see Jon Moss enjoying a lighter moment with the man of the moment ……

Half Time

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:24:36

Half Time

Today’s 4th official, Stuart Atwell, has had a very good refereeing season.  His early days as a National List referee were tarnished by the infamous 2009 Watford v Reading ‘ghost goal’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0YiuSbBdaQ but he has definitely matured as a referee as his recent high profile Football League appointments have proved.  We expect Stuart to have a another good season in 2015/16

During the half-time break, why not visit our website for Part One of our interview Kim Milton Nielson where he gives an open and honest opinion that the overall decline in refereeing standards in England is being replicated elsewhere in Europe – http://you-are-the-ref.com/you-are-the-ref-interview-kim-milton-nielsen-part-one/

Half Time

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:17:00

Half Time

Half-time, and so far so good the referee. His penal offence recognition has been of a good quality, and his decision to caution in the 40th minute was totally justified. Let’s hope he and his team  can keep this going.

41

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:14:19

GOAL!Puncheon free-kick, fooled Mignolet, 1-1, that;’s not in the script ….

40

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:13:17

Yellow CardCorrect decision, Chan can have no arguments …..

38

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:08:41

I continue to be impressed by the Referee’s positional sense, he always seem to be there or there abouts (a la Martin Atkinson), without having the dynamics of Clattenberg or Oliver

34

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:06:10

Palace still pushing forward in search of the equaliser that, on the balance of play, they deserve …

30

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:02:58

Palace have definitely come to be Party Poopers, pushing forward and being committed in the challenge, defiantly not ‘end-of-season’ fayre ….

RCT at 2015-05-16 18:00:39

How do you think the Refereeing team are doing so far …Let us know your thoughts by tweeting us @youaretheref or why not visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/youaretheref

27

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:58:16

Another good advantage in the build up to the last Liverpool attack ……

26

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:57:12

GOAL!Part time 1-0 Lallana finishes in style …..

25

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:56:00

Although no natural athlete, and Jon won’t mind us saying that, his work-rate is good and his movement over the first 5-10 meters in open-play is commendable – in addition he reads the game well.

20

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:51:09

But to counter-act that, 20 minutes gone and no shots on goal so far – i wonder is Mr G can change that statistic ….

16

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:49:43

There has also been a good level of discipline from the players, just 6 penal offences and nothing at all to concern the refereeing team …..

15

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:47:18

15 minutes gone and there is a lively pace to the game, which is good to  see …..

13

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:45:57

Good team-work, Simon Bennett’s decisive flag giving Jon Moss the possibility of applying advantage …..

12

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:44:45

Good sensible man-management as Jon Moss has “words” with Ward following that interesting challenge ….

9

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:40:26

Good to see both teams being committed to the game, this does not have an ‘end of season’ feel about it ….

6

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:38:09

Jon Moss well positioned to award that penal offence against you know who …

5

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:36:19

Nothing of too much controversy today so far for the Premier league officials, let’s hope Jon Moss and his team keep that going for the next 90 minutes …

3

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:33:35

It’s important that the match officials retain their focus and concentration, I’m sure they will once the game settles down

1

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:31:18

here we go – game on – focus Gents ……

As well as the usual considered debate on all the major decisions in the last week’s Premier League fixtures, a recent Ref Show put the record straight in respect to the views expressed by the YATR experts over the “non-selection” of Mark Claterburg for this year’s FA Cup final. It is made abundantly clear in this show that everyone here extends their very best wishes and congratulations to our referee today Jon Moss and sincerely hopes he has a great game on 30th May.  His performances and accuracy in respect to all Key Match Incidents in his games are subject to exactly the same analysis and opinions as the rest of his peers and the comments aired about the FA Cup final appointment are purely concerned with the selection criteria process and not the individual chosen. This show, along with all the previous editions, remains available to view athttp://you-are-the-ref.com/yatr-tv/the-ref-show/

And whilst we are on the subject of Cup Final’s what’s your thoughts on today’s referee Jon Moss’s appointment to the FA Cup Final, our own Mark Halsey has a view,  see http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32411536

Pre-Match

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:19:12

So, how do the Match Officials prepare for a game which is, in reality, a ‘dead rubber’, with Liverpool highly unlikely to overturn a large goal difference in favour of Manchester United for the 4th slot.  The answer as always is ‘treat it like a cup final’, expect the unexpected and be professional

Pre-Match

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:17:05

He was mentored in his early days at Anfield by another of football’s classy characters, namely Gary McAllister, who helped to mould him into the complete footballer.  Who will ever forget Gerrard’s equalising FA Cup Final goal, described by Martin Tyler as “classy”, with Andy Grey famously inviting him to “take a bow, son!”

Pre-Match

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:14:12

There is a lovely quote from Gerrard’s early days in 1999, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry quizzed Patrick Vieira on their way down the Anfield tunnel after a defeat: “Who was that kid in midfield?”

RCT at 2015-05-16 17:09:56

This evening’s game is very much about Steve Gerrard, and rightly so, what a fabulous player and a great ambassador for Liverpool and England.  A number of us here at You Are The Ref have had the pleasure and privilege of officiating in games in which he has played, and what always struck me personally about him was his pace and power and his eye for a pass.  Also, you could communicate with him, unlike other major players (e.g. Stuart Pearce would you believe) who just used to look through you with an icy stare and not make eye contact at all.
