What a fantastic advert for the Premier League this game was. We had goals disallowed, penalties given and not given and I feel Liverpool will be very happy with the 3 points and Leicester a bit disappointed not coming away with a point, which they would have got if they would have put the penalty away. That brings us onto the match officials, I thought for the most part of the first half Anthony’s recognition of foul non foul was good, he wasn’t fussy, he only got involved when he needed to get involved. I feel he still has a small problem with his recognition of careless and reckless challenges, where in my opinion he cautioned LC25 for a careless challenge and when Liverpool defenders made the same challenge he correctly didn’t caution. There was two big talking points in the first half where Leicester had a goal disallowed correctly for offside, although the scorer Okazaki was on side it was Leicester’s Maguire who was just offside in the build up and was correctly ruled out by assistant Nunn. This leads us onto Leicester’s first goal which in my opinion should have been disallowed for a foul on the keeper. As I said in my blog, I felt if Anthony had taken up a better positioning he would have spotted that foul. Moving on to the second half talking points in my opinion he was correct to give the penalty after the challenge by the Liverpool keeper on Vardy. There is an argument that he got a slight touch on the ball but he also took the man. Almost straight after there was a second penalty shout for Leicester and to be fair to Anthony that was not his shout. That was down to his assistant Gary Beswick and in my opinion he should have indicated a penalty to Leicester for deliberate handball as Liverpools Can drops his arm towards the ball. Looking at Anthony’s over all performance, his control was never in doubt, his fitness, his management of the game was good, his awareness of what was going on was good, he was proactive with the players, I would just like Anthony to look at his positioning of dead ball situations and getting himself into better positions at judging the danger zone.
Dont forgot to join us tomorrow at 16:00 Brighton V Newcastle United. Enjoy the rest of your evening. Good night from me

Foul correctly given.
MH at 2017-09-23 19:23:05
Anthony has got to be aware of what is going on between L18 and LC9 even at this late stage as there is a bit of afters going on between them. He has to stop and slow the game down and speak to them to calm everybody down.
MH at 2017-09-23 19:20:37
L9 reckless challenge.
MH at 2017-09-23 19:19:20
A minimum of 5 minutes added time.
MH at 2017-09-23 19:18:39
As I said earlier Anthony has to be proactive and he is.
MH at 2017-09-23 19:17:35
Anthony’s fitness levels are of a high standard as this has been end to end and Anthony has been up with play at all times.
MH at 2017-09-23 19:13:29
Going back to the handball by L23 shouts for a penalty by LC. Liverpool couldn’t have any complaints if that had been given as L23 drops his arm towards the ball, but that is the shout of the assistant referee Gary Beswick.
MH at 2017-09-23 19:10:10
Substitution for L. L10 OFF, L21 ON.
substitution for LC. LC11 OFF, LC 19 ON.
MH at 2017-09-23 19:08:50
Gosh so much going on, Liverpools keeper was not sent off for denying a goal scoring opportunity, Anthony’s opinion was that the keeper made a genuine attempt to play the ball and I agree with him.
MH at 2017-09-23 19:06:11
Substitution for LC, LC8 ON, LC20 OFF.
Substitution for L. L23 OFF, L7 ON.
MH at 2017-09-23 19:03:50
Great save from the Leicester penalty.
MH at 2017-09-23 19:03:10
MH at 2017-09-23 19:02:37
Thats a clear penalty for Leicester.
MH at 2017-09-23 19:00:15
LC9. Game on, I did say we were going to see goals and I still feel there is more to come.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:59:03
Excellent dynamic sprinting by Anthony for Liverpools counter attack.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:57:52
MH at 2017-09-23 18:55:11
Substitution for L. L15 ON, L9 OFF.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:52:31
Substitution for LC. LC7 ON, LC26 OFF.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:51:34
The tempo of the game has gone up with that Anthony has got to be more proactive and be aware of what is going on around him off the ball.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:50:12
Free kick correctly given to LC.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:49:16
Did you notice Anthony’s positioning at that corner. Much better taking up a central position as the ball was dropping in the danger zone.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:47:40
L6 for dissent rightly so. Claiming he should have had a penalty but in my opinion Anthony has got that spot on. Six of one and half a dozen of the other.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:45:09
Another good advantage played by Anthony on an offside, no need to stop the game.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:41:41
L12 judged to have fouled LC3.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:40:06
Going back to the first half Anthony’s recognition of foul and non foul for most of the first half was very good as I said he missed that one crucial incident involving LC20 and the keeper which no doubt Liverpool would have vented their fury at half time with the official. He has to put that behind him and stay fully focused, his concentration levels at a high and remain mentally tough.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:36:13
LC to get the second half underway.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:35:22
Two big talking points in the first half, looking at the disallowed offside goal for LC20 although he was onside it shows that LC15 was fractionally offside when the ball came over and he was the player who headed it back so you can say the assistant has got that one right. Regarding to LC20’s gaol that was given you can say that that should have been disallowed for a foul on the Liverpool keeper and that was missed in my opinion by poor positioning by Anthony at the taking of the corner. You cannot see incidents when looking through players. You have to be where the danger zone is and the danger zone is always in the centre of the goal at taking of corners.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:28:32
Looking at Leicester’s first goal it looks like LC20 is holding the Liverpool keeper. The assistant is looking through players and he is not going to see that. In my opinion that is for the referee to give. So let’s look at the reason why he hasn’t given it and in my opinion that is down to his starting position from the corner. He is standing to wide and looking through players, his starting position needs to be just outside the D central so he has got an excellent viewing angle because when the ball comes in it’s about antisipating play, reading the game and as a referee at this level you should know where the ball is going to drop and it’s going to drop in the danger zone which is within the centre between the penalty spot and the goal line. Anthony would then have picked that up.

MH at 2017-09-23 18:18:02
Good save by the Liverpool keeper.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:17:17
L32 for a foul on L9.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:16:02
A minimum if 2 minutes added time.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:15:21
This game is end to end. Anthony has to remain fully focused.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:14:14
Going back to the disallowed goal, LC20 as the ball comes over LC20 is in an offside position but not involved in active play so when the ball is then headed back across he is then in an onside position in the second phase of play and the goal in my opinion should have been given. The assistant Adam Nunn has got that wrong.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:10:42
LC goal disallowed for offside.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:08:55
Well done Anthony that is not a foul on LC10
MH at 2017-09-23 18:07:54
Foul by L12 on LC11 correctly given.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:05:56
Excellent advantage played by Anthony after a foul on LC11.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:04:51
Correct recognition not a foul on LC3.
MH at 2017-09-23 18:03:48
Anthony is showing good movement around the field of play, not sticking to a narrow diagonal, getting wide when needed to giving him good viewing angles.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:59:50
Careless challenge by L18 on LC26 correctly given but what was the difference between LC25 challenge when he was cautioned? In my opinion no difference at all both free kicks only.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:57:22
It’s pleasing to see that Anthony is engaging with the captain of Liverpool L14 as sometimes he does get carried away and he needs calming down.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:55:50
Going back to the caution for the free kick that lead to the goal what you have to remember it’s not necessary that every foul is a caution.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:54:11
L10. Brilliant goal from the resulting free kick. LC have themselves to blame. Dangerous area to give away a free kick.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:52:52
LC25. In my opinion I feel that Anthony could have managed that challenge as it is not denying a promising attack as there are defending players around.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:51:23
So important for your match control.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:50:35
Glad to see Anthony agreed with me. It’s so important that when you get the opportunity to stamp your authority on the game you take it and Anthony has done that, letting all the players know that he will not tolerate those kind of challenges.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:48:28
LC11 as he makes a reckless challenge on L11
MH at 2017-09-23 17:47:16
That should be a yellow card!
MH at 2017-09-23 17:46:42
I feel there’s more goals to come in this game.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:45:57
L11. Poor defending by Leicester.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:45:07
Offside correctly given by Adam Nunn.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:43:20
L23 hits the post with a stinging shot.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:42:34
No foul given for L10 correct in my opinion went down far to easy looking for a free kick.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:40:23
Free kick correctly given to Liverpool.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:37:32
Carelessness challenge byLC11 free kick correctly given.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:36:49
First chance to LC good save by the Liverpool keeper.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:35:54
Two footballing teams and Anthony will be hoping to only get involved when needed. It is still important to pick up the small free kicks early on.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:33:12
First free kick to Liverpool correctly given.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:30:13
Liverpool to get us underway.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:16:17
15 minutes till kick off.
MH at 2017-09-23 17:08:47
This evenings referee is Anthony Taylor who has had a relatively good start to the season having refereed 5 games to date 3 on TV so once again he will be on the world stage with UEFA watching closely as we need more referees promoted onto UEFA’S elite panel. Come Christmas we will not have any as Martin Atkinson retires, it’s unheard of that we only have one referee on the elite panel at present. So the quality of Anthony’s performances are so crucial. He will be assisted by Gary Beswick technical area side, Adam Nunn and 4th Official will be Bobby Madley. Good luck to the officials.

Good evening and welcome to this evenings game between Leicester and Liverpool. This game follows hot on the heels of the televised midweek game between these two. Liverpool will be looking for revenge after the midweek defeat in the Carabao Cup with both teams having made exstensive changes to their lineups. On the other hand Leicester will want to bag another victory against Liverpool and continue their move up the league table.
