Full Time

Full time, and a refereeing performance which warrants praise. He successfully recognised a change in tempo and increased his profile accordingly for 10 minutes either side of half-time, showing just one totally justified yellow card.  The game was always under his control and his decision making was commendable.

RCT at 2015-04-29 21:38:32

Full Time

So it’s a great victory for Chelsea, who will win the title with a victory at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

RCT at 2015-04-29 21:33:39

Sighs of relief at Newcastle, Hull, Villa, Sunderland, QPR and Burnley – especially after Leicester opened the scoring …..

87

RCT at 2015-04-29 21:31:36

In fairness to the players, their discipline has been good and we have had no excessive falls to the ground, histrionics, tripping and diving, which resulted in a good evening’s entertainment …….

82

RCT at 2015-04-29 21:28:40

GOAL!  Ramires, 1-3 game over – surely game, set and match to the Champions elect …..

80

RCT at 2015-04-29 21:27:34

10 to go Refereeing team – focus, focus and more focus …..

77

RCT at 2015-04-29 21:24:33

GOAL! and their patience has been rewarded with a 2nd goal – John Terry breaks Leicester hearts ….

76

RCT at 2015-04-29 21:23:13

By that I mean they are being patient and trusting their own ability …..

75

RCT at 2015-04-29 21:21:36

Chelsea are playing in the style of Bournemouth … bet that’s never been said before across the www ….

72

RCT at 2015-04-29 21:19:57

The consensus says Chelsea will win it, I just get a sneaky feeling it might go the other way ….

RCT at 2015-04-29 21:18:38

Obviously a key 20 minutes left, here at You Are The Ref we reckon  their might be a sting in the tail …… but who too ?

70

RCT at 2015-04-29 21:17:21

20 to go, the Referee and his team have been nothing short of superb ….

67

RCT at 2015-04-29 21:14:50

This is a good open game now – who’s’ going to win it…..

60

RCT at 2015-04-29 21:05:48

60 gone – Mark and his team continue to get everything right, they are calm, in control, professional – 30 to go, keep it going ……

57

RCT at 2015-04-29 21:04:49

Superb from the Referee, calming down Terry and Cambassio with a calm and collected intervention…..

53

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:59:28

Simon Beck with an equally good decision – quality work by the Assistant Referees ….

50

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:57:57

Good awareness by Assistant Jake Collin – the TV aren’t showing a replay because they know it was right

48

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:55:28

Goals can often be “trigger points” in terms of an increased temperature of the game, time for the officials to be wary …

47

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:53:21

GOAL!Drogba levels matters – CFC’s first shot goal, but how decisive, game on

46

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:50:24

Here we go – 2nd half underway …..

Let us know your Subbuteo stories by tweeting us  @youaretheref

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:42:56

Leeds United were knocked out in the quarter finals when Alan Clarke fell of the table and Kev stood on him – laughed until we cried … Celtic reached the semis, with jinking Jimmy Johnston staring – his ‘owner’, Tosh from Glasgow, painted his hair red !

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:39:04

Half Time

For those of you looking for a bit of nostalgia, visit http://you-are-the-ref.com/subbuteo-life-before-computer-games/ where we discuss the wonderful world of Subbuteo.  My teenage summer boyhood years in the holidays were spent with groups of like-minded lads as we played our own version of The FA Cup.  8 of us entered 8 teams each and we played all 63 games – it must have driven our parents bonkers.  I distinctly remember the 1973 final went to a replay before my mate Kev (from London) representing Crystal Palace beat Hamilton Academicals Reserves (me) 3-2 in extra-time – I was “gutted.”  Who needs FIFA-15, we didn’t.

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:36:57

Half Time

That was an object lesson on how to make the game look easy.  No fuss, no bother, just one caution and a requirement to increase his involvement in the last 10 minutes to retain control.  So far, so good – an early second half goal would change the temperature from hot to white hot …..

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:35:37

Half Time

So Mark Alrrighton’s goal has set us up for a thrilling 2nd half …….

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:34:30

And perfectly timed, just before half-time ….

45

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:33:33

Whoosh – goal to the Home Team GOAL! he took that well

44

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:32:17

That was a fair tackle by Cambiasso, good judgement again ….

44

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:30:20

The referee has had to increase his involvement in the last 10 minutes to retain control – good tempo management …..

43

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:27:42

Well we have doubled the foul count in the space of 1 minute – correct decisions again …..

32

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:23:21

Yellow CardWell, no arguments there , Koncshesky arrived some time tomorrow – a calm and dignified caution, accepted by the offender

34

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:19:47

This shows that they players are trusting Mark Clattenburg to make the correct decisions and so far he has not let them down

32

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:17:54

The other interesting statistic is the number of penal offences in the game so far, just the ONE

30

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:15:06

I guess the disappointed statistic is the number of shots on goal so far – a big fat ZERO

28

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:13:47

So, is this football or is this chess, Chelsea are playing a waiting game, keep focused refereeing team.

27

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:12:02

I did notice the authorities are considering the use of 4 subs, as opposed to 3 – that could be interesting for the game’s purists

23

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:09:57

Leicester have been forced use 2 subs in the 1st 20 minutes, this has to be good news for Chelsea

21

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:08:27

An object lesson in positioning and movement for incidents in the penalty area. Move quickly to the required position, standstill, and judge from a standing position, not on the move.

17

RCT at 2015-04-29 20:03:17

We have had 5 offside decisions already, which is unusual for the Premier league, which is good focus and concentration by the Assistant Referees

15

RCT at 2015-04-29 19:59:32

For those of you out there who referee in 15 minute ‘chunks’, 1 out of 6 successfully negotiated, the most important 75 minutes remain ……..

12

RCT at 2015-04-29 19:57:42

The referee is allowing a degree of physicality in the challenges the ball, we like to see this, to a degree. The players appear to have accepted his tolerance level, so far so good.

10

RCT at 2015-04-29 19:56:01

I think the neutral fan would love to see a goal to the home team – that would be fun !

8

RCT at 2015-04-29 19:54:41

The best referees on the Premier league have the ability to sprint quickly from a  standing start. If you are a referee, work on this in your training, I promise you it will reap dividends, as Mark showed then.

5

RCT at 2015-04-29 19:50:56

good decision by the referee, that was just a collision of 2 players, no penal offence, play on

4

RCT at 2015-04-29 19:49:40

The game has not settled down yet, it’s still a bit frenetic, the intensive rain means the ball is skidding, Mark needs to adapt to the conditions accordingly, I am sure he will

1

RCT at 2015-04-29 19:45:41

Here we go- good luck to the refereeing team

RCT at 2015-04-29 19:40:39

The match officials for this game are led by Mark Clattenburg, who will be supported by Jake Collin and Simon Beck, with Neil Swarbrick on 4th official duties. It’s the same on the field team who did so well at the PSG v Barcelona Champions league fixture 2 weeks ago.
