Final Summary

RCT at 2017-01-14 20:31:50

Andre Marriner has managed the players very well this evening and they in turn have shown him respect which is good to see. His reading of foul play challenges has overall been consistent and correct. What has impressed me today is Andre`s positive body language, he was looking fully focussed and he showed total concentration throughout this potentially difficult live TV game. He showed a clear reading of play, good respect seen towards Andre by the players and he got all the important decisions correct. No key match decisions to discuss and for me the key area today as mentioned is how Andre has read player challenges both foul and non foul correctly and consistently. Both Assistants have given Andre good support. We discussed at half time the good support from Simon Beck with a free kick award 1st half and also Scott Ledger gave Andre very good support with his timely and correct flag to indicate a free kick to Chelsea and yellow card to Fuchs (49th minute) which ultimately led to Chelsea`s 2nd goal. Overall a very good and positive day for Andre and his team. Well done Andre!

No penalty to Chelsea as Willian goes to ground and again this is correct and well read by the match officials.

RCT at 2017-01-14 20:01:43

Good support from Simon Beck foul by Matic on Gray - these are areas when Assistant Referees need to get involved and support the referee.

Last Chelsea Goal

RCT at 2017-01-14 20:00:34

There was a very good non offside flag from Scott Ledger in the build up to the goal.

71

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:59:02

GOAL!

0-3 Pedro

66

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:56:05

Okazaki appeared to foul Moses? although Andre better placed felt there was no foul as he felt that Okazaki was removing himself from the challenge on Moses, who felt it was coming. How difficult it is at times for Match Officials to judge these situations and they don't have the benefit of a replay which we do.

Fuch yellow card

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:52:31

Going back to the yellow card shown to Fuchs (shirt pull ) then there was good teamwork seen here. Good flag from Scott Ledger and Andre raised his profile with the correct showing of a yellow which then led to the goal. Good teamwork all round.

Chelsea ck

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:49:50

Andre has a quiet word with players at that last ck to Chelsea - good low key but effective player management seen here. Good also to see Andre have a smile with players,

55

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:45:40

From the Fuchs throw in - Albrighton falls in the Chelsea penalty area in close contact with a Chelsea player and no penalty kick is the correct decision.

53

FK to Chelsea - Vardy commits a careless challenge

Chelsea kick off the 2nd half

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:31:47

We are under way

Half Time Summary

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:25:40

Andre Marriner has managed the players very well and they in turn have shown him respect which is good to see. His reading of foul play challenges has overall been consistent and correct ( just the 1 free kick not awarded 18th minute to Chelsea which we have discussed)

What has impressed me to date is that Andre is looking fully focussed and showing total concentration.

Good body language and signalling technique has been seen so far.

No key match decisions to discuss.

Both Assistants have given Andree good support and I am sure that Scott Ledger will be briefing Andre on the altercation between Vardy and Alonso just before half time and this will be one to keep an eye on and to be aware of in the 2nd half.

Half Time summary to follow...

45

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:16:41

A very quick breakaway from Chelsea in that last attack and Andre has to work hard to keep up. Vardy and Alonso have words with each other as the 4th Official shows 1 minute added time

41

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:13:13

Foul by Drinkwater on Pedro as play moves away quickly, Andre works really hard to get the view to judge.

40

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:12:17

Simon Beck flags the ball out of play from the next corner kick to Chelsea. Positive body language and clear flag signal seen.

39

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:10:38

Ck to Chelsea as Andre takes up near enough a similar position to the first Chelsea corner kick.

37

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:08:59

FK to Leicester good detection here as our 4th Official Stuart Attwell has a quiet word not for the first time with Conti.

34

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:07:35

Foul by Matic on Musa and a quiet word to Matic from Andre, good low key but effective management of players, no need to make a big issue as the players are respecting Andre`s decision making to date. Keep out of the lime light if you can and keep your profile low as the game progresses nicely.

31

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:04:46

Alonso incorrectly flagged offside by Simon Beck. Replays show a tight one but one were the Assistant should have kept his flag down. Play incorrectly halted.

30

RCT at 2017-01-14 19:03:16

Andre will be reviewing things to date and will be happy with performance so far. He looks relaxed and consistent and has not been fussy in his reading of careless / reckless challenges.

27

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:59:41

Simon Beck on the far touchline as you view he is on the goal line to judge the ball had not fully crossed over the goal line

26

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:57:58

Close call throw in or goal kick - Andre has a good view to judge gk to Chelsea

23

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:56:44

FK to Leicester Mendy seemed to go in late on Kante - outcome Leicester free kick

21

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:55:00

FK to Leicester correctly awarded by Andre out comes the spray for the first time what an aid this has been to referees this season in their management of 9.15 fks. Do you think the spray should be introduced at grass roots level?

Twitter @youaretheref or e-mail at info@you-are-the-ref.com

18

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:51:22

No fk to Chelsea as Moses goes down under a challenge from Chilwell. Despite commentators saying there was no contact so no fk - there does not have to be contact this was a careless challenge by Chilwell and should have resulted in a fk to Chelsea.

15

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:47:20

Fk to Leicester and a very good opening from Andre showing good game management, with good support from his Assistants

12

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:44:08

Scott Ledger on the near side touchline comes in with his first decision of the game a throw in to Chelsea

11

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:42:42

CK to Chelsea did you notice the position of Andre on the edge of the penalty area with a good view.

9

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:41:27

Chelsea throw in Andre moves back the player to ensure the correct placement - good early management of the game

8

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:39:43

Huth careless on Pedro fk to Chelsea

7

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:39:08

Good eye to eye between Andre and Simon Beck on that last throw in to Chelsea. They took their time and the decision was given in harmony.

5

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:37:24

GOAL!

Alonso 0-1 - good start for Chelsea

3

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:36:26

Huth foul on Willian  - good spot from Simon Beck on the technical area touchline, Andre was behind play and this is just the right support you need from your Assistant.

2

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:33:56

Early foul conceded by Vardy on David Luiz - fk to Chelsea

1

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:32:44

Good early movement from Andre in that last Leicester breakaway, gk to Chelsea

Pre Match Build Up

RCT at 2017-01-14 18:18:14

Good Evening and a warm welcome to this live Ref Cam game between Leicester City v Chelsea to be played at The King Power Stadium, Leicester.

Leicester go into the game 28 points behind their opponents, only 12 months ago they were 17 points clear of them. But back-to-back Premier League clean sheets and a good cup win at Everton show more promising signs.

If they can repeat the performance they showed at home to Manchester City, then Chelsea's new year could continue to be uncomfortable.

The eyes of the rest of the Premier League will be watching the champions of the last two seasons as they go head to head to see how the current leaders react to their first defeat in 14 games.

"Antonio Conte has set high standards in a short space of time. All champions have character in abundance and Chelsea will be determined to showcase theirs tonight at the King Power Stadium.
