Has the result masked one poor decision in an otherwise flawless display by Mike Dean.  This may seem harsh, but had the score stayed at 2-2, would Leicester City be blaming the referee for the non award of a penalty when Jamie Vardy was fouled. This was an incorrect Key Match Decision which has not effected the eventual outcome – 30 seconds of madness amongst 95 minutes and 30 seconds of quality officiating.

Full time and the Foxes triumph with a stirring 2nd half display to finish 3-2 winners.  What did you think of Mike Dean’s performance

6 additional minutes – once again, focus, focus, focus ……

at 2015-09-13 17:51:43

Immense bravery by Dyer brings a great goal for Leicester ….

Game on for the final 7 minutes ….

at 2015-09-13 17:43:53

Vardy delight – a justified equaliser, fully deserved

80

at 2015-09-13 17:42:20

Mike Dean using all his experience and not showing a second yellow to the Vila defender, not bowing to the pressure from the Home Team players and fans

75

at 2015-09-13 17:36:31

Things are hotting up, Dyer speaks out of turn and is cautioned for his troubles

at 2015-09-13 17:35:41

Replays have confirmed my initial thought that Bacuna legally challenged Vardy and that a penalty kick should have been awarded – the first and only error so far by Mike Dean

70

RCT at 2015-09-13 17:32:50

Well 2 talking points in the space of 2 minutes, was there a penalty kick to Leicester City when Vardy was challenged, the consensus says yes … followed by Goal Line Technology kicking in to correctly ward a goal to the Home Team

65

at 2015-09-13 17:26:20

Mike Dean will be wary of possible adverse reactions from the Home Team, 0-2 down at home,

at 2015-09-13 17:23:35

Villa delight – a classic sucker punch as Villa take a 2-0 lead from Gil

60

at 2015-09-13 17:20:11

On the balance of play, Leicester deserve an equaliser ….

at 2015-09-13 17:18:00

Or do you think his flag was a good one, giving the option to allow Mike Dean to stop play if he felt the need to do so …

Did Eddie Smart raise his flag too early in that last phase of play, perhaps a second or two’s additional delay would have been wise, the first ‘blip’ of the afternoon buy he refereeing team, and a minor one at that

52

at 2015-09-13 17:13:56

Good awareness by Simon Long, the corner played straight out of play by the Home Team

47

As expected, a lively start to the 2nd half by the Home Team ,,,,,

Half Time

at 2015-09-13 16:53:49

The key moment in that half was Mike’s decision to caution Albrighton, had he not done so, that would have given licence to the players to commit similar offences without risking punishment, a dangerous place to be for the referee

Half Time

at 2015-09-13 16:51:31

A sound solid performance so far by Mike Dean – no fuss, no bother, just quiet low profile authority and judging his involvement to an ideal level

45+1

at 2015-09-13 16:48:38

Our first yellow of the game, a cynical challenge by Mark Allrbrighton produces a justified caution, giving Mike Dean a great opportunity to assert his authority just before half-time

41

at 2015-09-13 16:42:19

So, now’s the time to focus, goals are often ‘trigger points’ for a rise in temperature of the game, 3 minutes to see it home for the first 45 ….

40

RC at 2015-09-13 16:40:39

Grealish – 1-0 to the Villa, Dad will be proud ……

38

at 2015-09-13 16:39:18

The match officials will be talking down the comms, “7 minutes to half-time guys, lets’ keep our focus and see this safely through to half-time”

35

at 2015-09-13 16:36:25

It’s a major focus and concentration task for the Assistant Referees today, no offsides and no penal offences give so far – focus. focus, focus …

31

at 2015-09-13 16:32:38

Only 5 penal offences committed in the first 30 minutes, that’s low for the Premier League

27

at 2015-09-13 16:29:20

Great refereeing by Mike Dean, no advantage accrued after Westwood offended, I wish more referees would do that

at 2015-09-13 16:26:25

Grealish shoots and Schmeichel saves, where have I heard that before ….

at 2015-09-13 16:23:12

No real goal-mouth action to write home about, no major talking points for the referee team, it’s crying out for a Alan Birchenall (LCFC) or a Gordon Cowens (AVFC) to create sometging magic from midfield.

Have you noticed how calm and collected Mike Dean is, nothing phases him, he just makes his decision with apparent consummate ease

9

at 2015-09-13 16:12:00

Morgan may have done better with that header ….

at 2015-09-13 16:08:31

Leicester City’s Vardy is being a nuisance to the Villa defence already, one for the match officials to keep an eye on …. But no drama’s so far for the refereeing team

Here we go …..

at 2015-09-13 15:58:03

The team of match officials this afternoon are referee Mike Dean, Simon Long will operate on the technical area line, with Eddie Smart on the other line.  Fourth Official duties lie with Jonathon Moss.

at 2015-09-13 15:51:54

Some key players on show today, one of them being Villa’s #40 Jack Grealish.  Many of us here at You Are The Ref remember his Dad Tony as a tough tackling midfield players from the 80s, he knew how to stop those who could play and was no mean play-maker himself.

What did you make of the incident involving Defoe in our previous game, Andy Martin called it right and Spurs were lucky not to concede a penalty.
