Really pleased to see David Unsworth end his reign as caretaker manager with a victory. Everton will be very happy with the much needed 3 points. Also Michael Oliver should be extremely happy with his performance. 2 big key match decisions that resulted in a penalty for Everton and a penalty for West Ham both correctly given in my opinion. He was confident, decisive in his decision making which gave the players confidence and won him the respect of the players, his fitness was superb which got him into positions that gave him the ultimate viewing angles. The only blot on his copy book was the missed caution of Wayne Rooney after his reckless challenge on WH10 but that happens and shouldn’t reflect on what was an excellent performance by Michael. He was well assisted by his assistants. Well done Michael and his team.

What a different a new manager makes to a football club when the appointment is made.

E5 excellent header from the corner, resulting from the excellent advantage played by Michael.

Substitution for WH, WH2 OFF, WH41 ON.
MH at 2017-11-29 22:36:06
Another excellent advantage given to Everton. Michael brimming with confidence, his only error so far was not cautioning Rooney for the reckless challenge on WH10.
MH at 2017-11-29 22:29:12
Rooney very lucky not to be cautioned after a foul on WH10, reckless challenge
MH at 2017-11-29 22:26:49
Michael does well to jump out of the way.
MH at 2017-11-29 22:26:02

Michael is enhancing his chances of promotion to the elite group of referees on UEFA. I am sure the committee will be watching Michaels performances closely.
MH at 2017-11-29 22:13:13
E26. The ball has now gone out of play and Michael has gone back and cautioned E26 for a reckless challenge. Super refereeing by Michael,

It’s really important that Michaels stays fully focused and switch on because if you don’t something will happen and he will miss a big decision.

Obviously all the talk will be about the penalty given away by the West Ham Goal keeper Joe Hart after he was adjudged to have fouled E29. In my opinion this was a correct decision by Michael Oliver. Although people will say he got a finger tip on the ball he then took the player out, had he not caught the player you have to ask would E29 regain control of the ball after putting it pass the keeper and in my opinion you have to say yes. When you come sliding out in the manner Joe Hart did you run the risk. I would support Michael also in not cautioning the keeper as I felt the penalty was sufficient punishment. Some will ask why wasn’t Joe Hart sent off for denying a goal scoring opportunity the answer is because he made a genuine attempt to play the ball. Michael has also stamped his authority on this game with the correct cautions of WH5 and E18. The players have full respect in his decision making. Excellent first half by Michael and his team, keep up the good work.

MH at 2017-11-29 21:46:09
Well done Stuart Burt indicating a free kick to WH after a foul by E18.
A minimum of 2 minutes added time.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:44:54
Sam Allardyce will be pleased with what he has seen from his players at present.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:43:49
Michael is keeping a central path of control as there is not a lot of width to the game and that’s all that is needed at present.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:41:46
It’s pleasing to see Michael engaging with both sets of players with a smile on his face.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:40:42
Correct free kick given to WH. No advantage occurred so Michael pulled it back.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:39:43
Again no foul in the penalty area on E26, well done Michael.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:38:39
Off side correctly given by Stuart Burt.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:37:56
Correct decision by Michael just two players coming together in the penalty area.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:36:11
Needless caution for E18 after a holding offence.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:35:22
Michaels fitness is excellent he has got the extra pace in him that gets him into the ultimate viewing angle that enables him to make the correct decision.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:34:08
Good challenge by WH5 but he has got to be careful.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:33:29
The game is getting a little bit niggly now and Michael has to keep giving the small free kicks to keep the game under control. If he doesn’t then players will take their own retribution.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:31:17
Michael has got to remain fully focused now. Foul by WH14 on E26 correctly given.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:28:22
MH at 2017-11-29 21:26:50
WH5 correctly given.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:24:02
You have to say Joe Hart gets a slight touch on the ball but then clatters into the Everton forward, now if Joe doesn’t clatter into the player would he have regained control of the ball once he goes to put it round Joe Hart and you would say yes he would have so I agree with Michael that’s a penalty. It’s no different to an outfield player who plays the ball and then clatters into the player with a trailing leg. So for me as I said it’s a good decision by Michael.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:19:34
Great save by Joe Hart but E10 puts in the rebound.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:18:45
MH at 2017-11-29 21:18:12

MH at 2017-11-29 21:15:36
Good to see Michael giving the game a chance and letting it breathe and only getting involved when necessary.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:14:01
Free kick correctly given to WH.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:10:35
Fairly low tempo at present not causing Michael any problems. Careless challenge by E12 on WH3 free kick correctly given.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:08:44
It’s Important to give an early correct decision as it installs confidence into your decision making.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:04:33
Foul by E29 on WH2 correctly given.
MH at 2017-11-29 21:00:28

Good evening and welcome to tonight’s game Everton V West Ham. Everton have just appointment my good friend Sam Allardyce which I believe is a brilliant appointment for the football club, while David Moyes comes back to Goodison Park after 11years in charge there as the new manager of West Ham. I know Sam and David are very good friends. This is a massive 6 pointer game as West Ham lie 18th in the league with 10 points. Everton are 1 place above them in 17th position on 12 points respectively. I think we will be in for an exciting match with both clubs needing the points. Our man in the middle and presiding over matters tonight is Michael Oliver. His last outing was at Anfield on Saturday, Liverpool V Chelsea where I thought Michael had an excellent game. He will be assisted by Simon Bennett (technical side), Stuart Burt and 4th official Craig Pawson. Good luck to all.
