Tune in later for our refcam game @ 17:30 Burnley V Tottenham where your coach will be Rob Harris. All that leaves me to do is wish you all a very merry Christmas enjoy the festivities.

MH at 2017-12-23 15:34:02

Knowing big Sam as I do he will be extremely pleased with his sides performance considering where they were a few weeks ago. Another point in the bag. As for referee Bobby Madley he will be pleased with his performance. I liked the way he managed the players, engaged with the players, he gave the game a chance to breath, he only got involved when he had to get involved. Although there was no big key match decisions to make he picked up everything he had to pick up to maintain control and respect from the players. The only negative point I have to raise is his anticipation and reading of play when the ball is in the hand of the goal keepers. You must get that side on view for the 9 5 challenges, it is so important to be there as you could easily miss an incident and Bobby didn’t do that today. Overall a good performance from him and his team.

Full Time

MH at 2017-12-23 15:19:38

Free kick given to Everton

MH at 2017-12-23 15:17:23

A great chance for Everton as E4 heads in over the bar in stoppage time.

MH at 2017-12-23 15:16:49

A minimum of 4 minutes added time.

MH at 2017-12-23 15:16:27

Corner to Everton.

MH at 2017-12-23 15:15:36

Free kick to Everton correctly given.

MH at 2017-12-23 15:10:45

Or are we going to see a late twist.

MH at 2017-12-23 15:10:24

I think Everton and Sam will be very happy with a point here.

MH at 2017-12-23 15:08:53

Everton looking for a free kick but not forthcoming as Chelsea break away again.

MH at 2017-12-23 15:07:45

Another good advantage played by Bobby as Chelsea break away.

MH at 2017-12-23 15:07:19

Substitution for Chelsea, C15 OFF, C21 ON.

MH at 2017-12-23 15:06:53

Pleasing to see Bobby engaging with the players and explaining his decision. I use to do that and I like to see it from other referees. It helps you gain respect from the players enormously.

MH at 2017-12-23 15:04:37

Chelsea getting closer and closer are we going to see a goal?

MH at 2017-12-23 15:02:12

Coming upto the last 15 minutes, Again Bobby has missed nothing. Nearly an own goal by E5 headed into his own cross bar.

MH at 2017-12-23 15:00:18

Offside correctly given by Peter Kirkup.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:56:44

Substitution for Chelsea, C22 OFF, C23 ON.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:55:14

Bobby still keeping a fairly central path of control and keeping out of the way of play and not entering the players space.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:53:05

I think we will see a goal shortly.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:52:45

Another good save by the Everton keeper.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:51:27

Free kick correctly given to Chelsea.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:49:54

Substitution for Chelsea, C4 ON, C11 OFF.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:49:25

E2 lucky to escape a caution after a shirt pull and then a reckless challenge.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:48:25

I like Bobbys body language showing that he is calm and collected and showing that he is in charge.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:46:24

Yellow CardE4 reckless challenge correctly cautioned but saying that E54 was pulling his shirt at the same time so he can count himself lucky not to be cautioned as well as there were two offences committed. Bobby was waiting to see if he got away from E54 and then E4 came in with that reckless challenge. You can argue as soon as the shirt pull occurred he should have hit the whistle straight away as there was no real advantage.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:42:54

That has to be a caution.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:40:08

Has Sam made his earlier changes to early as he has now made all his 3 changes as E17 has gone off with a hamstring injury.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:36:55

Substitution for Everton, E17 OFF, E54 ON.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:34:30

Well done Bobby not a free kick for me.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:33:42

Another good save by the Everton keeper to keep Everton on level terms.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:32:43

The first half has gone relatively well for the referee but he has to remain fully focused as I am sure something will happen in this second half.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:31:38

Chelsea to get the second half underway. Substitutions for Everton E5 ON, E12 OFF and E9 ON and E26 OFF.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:19:43

An excellent game of football end to end, no problems for the referee at present. 2 cautions one for E29 which you can say was justified and one for E15 which I believe he could have managed. To be fair to Bobby he hasn’t missed anything of importance, he has picked up all the small free kicks and allowed play to flow when possible. Let’s hope the second half goes the same way.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:16:16

Half Time

MH at 2017-12-23 14:15:56

Good advantage played by Bobby.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:15:36

A minimum of 1 minutes added time.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:12:50

Good decision, throw in to Everton as it ricoshades off a Chelsea player.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:08:24

Free kickcorrectly given to Everton after a foul by C22.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:05:48

Good show of pace and agility from Bobby on that Chelsea attack.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:04:44

Great save by the Everton keeper.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:04:22

It’s pleasing to see Bobby picking up all the small free kicks, as itleads to players trusting you in your decision making.

MH at 2017-12-23 14:03:19

Correct free kick given against E12.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:59:11

Good offside flag from assistant Marc Perry.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:58:48

Well done Peter Kirkup for signalling the ball had just gone out of play thus being a throw in to Everton.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:57:12

Once again Bobby is not there for the dropping zone he has got to get side on.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:56:30

Free kick to Everton correctly given.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:55:52

E6 clearly not happy with the caution of E15.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:55:16

The tempo is raising in this game and Bobby has got to rise with it. He has got to remain switched on and mentally tough as this is one of the most hostile grounds to referee at.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:53:37

Yellow CardE15 cautioned for a reckless challenge on C15. In my opinion I think Bobby could have managed that better with a public rebuke as I said earlier. You don’t always have to show a yellow card. For me it was a careless challenge and that’s a big problem with have at this level at present with recognition of careless, reckless and reckless with excessive force.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:50:43

Yellow CardE29 was shown a yellow card. Obviously Bobby felt it was a reckless challenge and you cannot criticise him for that.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:45:36

I would like to have seen Bobby have a word with E29 for his challenge on C15, you can stamp your authority on the game with a public rebuke, you don’t always have to do it with a caution.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:41:50

Bobby keeping a central path of control and giving the game a chance to breath and not getting involved. At present the players want to play and Bobby is allowing that.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:40:24

Two excellent clearances off the line by E6.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:38:11

Good advantage played by Bobby.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:37:52

it’s important that Bobby reads and anticipates play well because something will happen in this game today. If he doesn’t he will be found wanting.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:34:00

Straight away I see Bobby not in the correct position for the kick out of the goalkeepers hands. You have to get side on position for the 9 5 challenges and you do that by using the dead ball time to get into position.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:30:10

Everton to get us underway.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:26:45

The teams are in the tunnel.

MH at 2017-12-23 13:16:33

Today’s referee is Bobby Madeley who was in charge of the midweek cup tie Leicester City V Manchester City where there was a very controversial moment in the 89th minute when Demarcus Gray went down in the penalty area with Kyle Walker in close proximity, Bobby pointed to the spot and once again opened a debate to simulation and deceiving a match official. In my opinion it was an act of simulation yet he was not charged. What was the different between Gray, Lanzini and Niasse ???

Bobby has had an indifferent season due to lack of fitness and injury problems. It’s important that Bobby starts well today. I like the way he manages the players, he is always engaging with them and the players like that but he has got to start getting the big decisions correct. That will build up his confidence that is essential to every sports person. Referees are no different. Bobby will be assisted by Peter Kirkup (technical area side), Marc Perry and 4th official Anthony Taylor. Good luck to all.

Good afternoon and welcome to this afternoons live blog Everton V Chelsea. This fixture always produces goals and is always entertaining, let’s hope that continues this afternoon. Considering where Everton were and where they are now upto 9th is nothing short of a miracle. You can always rely on my good friend Sam to do the business. I have visited Goodson Park before big Sam arrived, in my opinion the club lost a little bit of its identity of being a people’s club. I have to say it is now back to the club I know and people love. It was great to catch up with big Sam and little Sam after the game.
