Full time summary – Key match incidents as we discussed at half time – 9th minute – Rajkovic foul on Remy correct to award a penalty kick and also upon viewing replays also correct to show a yellow card. Penalty kick awarded to CH. just before half time foul by Ben Haim penalty kick award correct. Yellow card shown to Ben Hiam incorrect as this should have red as he denied Chelsea a clear goal scoring opportunity. Otherwise in Felix`s Champions League debut we have discussed in my BLOG the 1st minute yellow card which I felt he could have managed but maybe in his first game at this level he felt a need to get in early, this then left him little room to manoeuvre. He did however relax as the game moved on and showed a calm and positive attribute as he managed the game well. Just the one yellow missed in the 2nd half for CAHILL. He showed very good fitness and stamina levels and this aided his overall match control of this game. Overall good player respect seen. His position at times saw him evading player space. But I believe once he referees more games at this level then he will achieve better positioning by his reading of play and listening to the advice of the Assessor and his Coach. Many thanks for tuning in tonight and for all your interactive comments. Key match incidents always create plenty of debate and from these decisions this is how we all learn. Having the benefit of replays which of course out Match Officials do not have. Will video replays be used in games soon? that is another debate which I am sure will continue until its introduction. Look forward to you tuning in this Saturday at 12.45pm Chelsea v Arsenal …….. followed by Manchester City v West Ham 5.30pm kick off. Have a good night. No free kick to CH. as the referee moves into a good viewing position, aided by his good fitness and stamina levels
AM at 2015-09-16 21:36:58
2 MINUTES ADDED TIME ARE SHOWN BY 4TH OFFICIAL
AM at 2015-09-16 21:36:29
Cahill clears for a ck again the AR far side is showing a crouched position as he moves away down the touchline and we have discussed reasons why this is not good practice, missing high potential body challenges
am at 2015-09-16 21:33:36
OFFSIDE against CH. is then followed by a free kick to M. The referee is looking relaxed calm and in control as he awards the free kick and manages the situation well

Coming up this weekend we have on REF CAM. Chelsea v Arsenal kick off at 12.45pm Followed by Manchester City v West Ham ko 5.30pm
AM at 2015-09-16 21:30:29
Good effort from C. results in a gk awarded. The referee has achieved a good view to judge
AM at 2015-09-16 21:26:09
Fabregas scores to make it 4-0 and a good non offside call from our nearside AR.
AM at 2015-09-16 21:23:44
Free kick awarded to M. From the fk advantage played to M.
AM at 2015-09-16 21:22:34
C. sub 36 off 14 on
AM at 2015-09-16 21:21:55
C. free kick just outside M. pen area spray out again, grappling in the penalty area as Costa and a M. player are both grappling each other. No action taken here by the referee, I am not sure he had the best view, but again he could not of have any support form his AAR.
AM at 2015-09-16 21:18:22
M. sub 3 off 42 on. Again in the centre of play the referee gets caught up with play as he tends to stop and watch play rather than keeping on the move to avoid player space
AM at 2015-09-16 21:16:01
Free kick is awarded to C. following a handball and form this free kick Offside is then signalled by our nearside AR. It would be good practice to just retain your flag until the ball has been correctly positioned
AM at 2015-09-16 21:13:40
Cahill of Chelsea then pulls back 99 of M. A yellow card would have been correct HERE as Cahill has deliberately stopped a promising attack. The referee then speaks to 99 of M.
AM at 2015-09-16 21:11:00
M. SUB 11 OFF AND 15 ON & 22 OFF 99 ON C. SUB 8 OFF 7 ON
AM at 2015-09-16 21:09:05
C. offside nearside AR. M. Subs coming up
AM at 2015-09-16 21:06:59
Free kick to C. spray out as the referee manages the kick. Good restart position taken up by the referee
AM at 2015-09-16 21:05:56
Great finish from Costa as Chelsea move into a 3-0 lead.
AM at 2015-09-16 21:04:14
The referee in his Champions League debut despite one correct and one incorrect KMI is looking much more relaxed now and letting the game flow, it is just player space that he keeps invading into. He gives a wave to a player to get up as he goes down in a challenge, this is not good practice, what if the player cannot get up?. A ck is then awarded when it should have been a gk I wonder why the AAR behind the goal line does not assist here? Offside M. good decision as the player moves back to active play from an offside position
AM at 2015-09-16 20:58:12
The ASSISTANT ON THE NEARSIDE HAS JUST GIVEN A DELAYED AND WEAK THROW IN FLAG WHICH DID NOT SHOW ANY CONVICTION AT ALL. BE POSITIVE IN YOUR FLAGGING TECHNIQUE THIS WILL ADD CREDIBILITY TO YOUR DECISION MAKING PROCESS.
AM at 2015-09-16 20:55:50
Good early detection from our referee seen throw in to Chelsea, the referee is almost getting to close to play in attempt to keep up with play, he would be better, slowing as play breaks away and moving to a wider viewing angle rather than invading player space
AM at 2015-09-16 20:52:50
AM at 2015-09-16 20:52:22
Key decisions 1st half for me and having seen replays and remember the referee does hot have this opportunity and I would say having again seen replays that the ball was moving away from goal and therefore he called this correct in the yellow card he gave to the M. g/k Ben Haim yellow card just before half time then a yellow was shown when a red would have been correct as this was a clear denial of a goal scoring opportunity. Otherwise good fitness and movement seen we mentioned the very early yellow which could have been managed. Other challenges have been mentioned in my blog as well. Both ARS have given good support just 1 incorrect offside.
AM at 2015-09-16 20:44:54
Looking back at the yellow card for Ben Haim just before half time and the penalty kick then replays show that this should have been a red card for Ben Haim and not a yellow card which was shown. Summary to follow
AM at 2015-09-16 20:39:10
Penalty kick to Chelsea and having looked at the replays for the 3rd time, you have to support the referee here. It is not clear even in slow mo if Ben Haim takes the ball first. The referee has to make his judgement at the moment the challenge takes place although he was running across behind players and the other side of the goal line from where the AAR is positioned. Ben Haim and from the penalty kick Oscar scores the penalty kick in the 4th minute of added time, correct as you have to allow time for the penalty kick to be taken
AM at 2015-09-16 20:32:10
2 MINS ADDED TIME
AM at 2015-09-16 20:31:50
Good challenge by Rajkovic M. G/K this time as he wins the ball in his penalty area good judgement by Felix here as he takes up a good position
AM at 2015-09-16 20:30:05
Chelsea offside replays show that he was level with 2nd last defender and therefore was not offside. Have you noticed the far side AR crouching a lot, this is not good practice as he will miss higher body challenges
AM at 2015-09-16 20:27:47
Advantage player by the referee Hazard careless on the half way line, good signal seen by our referee
AM at 2015-09-16 20:26:33
Free kick against Costa for a high foot as the ball hits the bar, this seems very harsh as the opposing player was not near Costa`s foot as he attempted an overhead kick. Very similar to Cameron Jerome`s effort for Norwich earlier in the season – incorrectly ruled out
AM at 2015-09-16 20:23:04
Good and wide viewing angle taken up by Felix to detect the correct outcome of a ck to C.
AM at 2015-09-16 20:21:21
18 Igiebor M.reckless correct
AM at 2015-09-16 20:20:16
18 m. spoken to by referee good management seen here and the referee is looking more relaxed and giving himself some breathing space
AM at 2015-09-16 20:18:44
Baba 6 Chelsea fouls from behind on a M. player again no further action as the referee then gets out the spray for the free kick , good non offside flag nearside AR.
AM at 2015-09-16 20:16:38
Felix Zwayer our referee awards a free kick to Chelsea following a foul by 6 of M. no further action is the taken against this player, a yellow card would have been expected particularly after the referee set his stall out so early in the 1st minute
AM at 2015-09-16 20:13:10
Good position from the ck taken up by our referee, although some pushing and pulling this is not prevented prior to the corner kick. Keep an eye on this area for future c/ks. Can the AAR behind the goal help? well yes he should via the comms system to the referee that is one reason why they are there!
at 2015-09-16 20:10:15
Offside M. CORRECT. Chelsea SUB WILLIAN GOAL SCORER 22 OFF COSTA 19 ON Offside M. CORRECT
AM at 2015-09-16 20:08:50
The referee is getting very close to play and has to jump over the ball to avoid been hit, he needs to move wider to avoid players space. A good advantage is then played.
AM at 2015-09-16 20:07:19
Willian has an injury but returns to play. It looks like a hamstring injury, could be difficult to run off
AM at 2015-09-16 20:06:00
Going back to the Chelsea penalty and the foul by Rajkovic M. G/K on Remy in the M. penalty area. I WONDER WHAT SUPPORT THE REFEREE WOULD HAVE HAD FROM HIS ADDITIONAL ASSISTANT REFEREE BEHIND THE GOAL LINE?. Do you think Rajkovic should have seen red for the denial of a goal scoring opportunity? AM at 2015-09-16 20:02:59
Free kick to Chelsea and the referee Felix Zwayer speaks to 3 of M. and from the free kick Willian scores to make it 1-0 That will make up somewhat for Hazard`s penalty miss!
AM at 2015-09-16 20:00:52
Good spot for a throw in to Chelsea AR nearside touchline, good focus close by
AM at 2015-09-16 19:58:43
Free kick to Chelsea just outside Maccarbi pen area. Spray is out as the referee manages the defensive wall
AM at 2015-09-16 19:57:27
The penalty kick from is then saved!
AM at 2015-09-16 19:56:11
Penalty kick to Chelsea following a foul by Rajkovic the Maccibi goal keeper on Remy and he is then shown a Should he have received a red card? For discussion. Please let us know your thoughts by tweeting us @youaretheref or why not visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/youaretheref
AM at 2015-09-16 19:52:10
Good advantage by the referee and then good support from the AR far touchline FREE KICK. However then Ben Hamin comes in with a similar challenge to Loftus – Cheek and no action is then taken against him? when everyone was expecting a yellow?
AM at 2015-09-16 19:49:57
A yellow card for Ruben Loftus – Cheek for a high foot challenge. This is a very early yellow card and one that I feel could have been managed, especially so early in the game. The referee has set a very early standard in this game.

Our Match Referee is Felix Zwayer (FZ) from Germany and he makes his UEFA Champions League bow tonight at Stamford Bridge under the eyes of the UEFA Referee Observer Jaap Uilenberg (NED) This being Felix`s first game it will be interesting to look at a number of areas of his refereeing performance, so along with me let us highlight his strengths and also look at the areas where we feel that development is needed.
