As for our referees:
Jon Moss will be content with his night’s work. He read the game well and adjusted his positioning accordingly.
John Brooks was having a poor game until he made an excellent offside call on Ivanovic’s ‘goal’.
Edward Smart did everything asked of him.
All round, a good night for our officials.
Well done fellas…no unwanted headlines for you tomorrow.
GT at 2015-02-11 22:39:04
A deserved win for the home side who dominated play, but they will be disappointed not to have scored more goals.
For all Everton’s defending they had an excellent chance to score when Cech pulled off a great save from Lukaku.
Gareth Barry should hang his head in shame as his dismissal undoubtedly contributed to them losing this one,
GT at 2015-02-11 22:36:46
and that’s game over as Chelsea take all the points for the 11th time at home season
GT at 2015-02-11 22:35:26
Ramires also saw yellow in that earlier melee, along with McCarthy

Cahill takes over from the goal scorer Willian as Chelsea look to shut up shop

4 added minutes to go…
GT at 2015-02-11 22:32:48
Gareth Barry has let down his team mates and the club as Chelsea immediately take advantage of playing against 10 men.
89 minutes they held out for…

GT at 2015-02-11 22:31:13
Ivanovic also sees yellow
GT at 2015-02-11 22:30:48
for Gareth Barry as he and other players lose their cool.
Correct decision for a second yellow card.
GT at 2015-02-11 22:29:36
John Brooks makes a huge call as he correctly chalks off a deflected effort which found the back of the Everton net.
Ivanovic was indeed offside
GT at 2015-02-11 22:27:59
Excellent advantage played by Mossy as Chelsea attack again
GT at 2015-02-11 22:25:42
This time John Brooks does flag for a foul but Chelsea would have been far happier with an advantage.
Poor awareness from the weakest member of tonight’s refereeing team
GT at 2015-02-11 22:24:23
Mourinho’s post match press conference can almost be heard already.
No doubt references to parking the bus won’t be too far from his lips if Everton continue to hold out for a draw
GT at 2015-02-11 22:22:51
10 minutes of regular play to go…
GT at 2015-02-11 22:20:31
Ivanovic pushes his luck as Moss makes him take the throw in from the correct place.
The defender barks his disapproval at our referee, possibly through frustration at his own side’s inability to break down Everton
GT at 2015-02-11 22:18:38
We enter the final 15 minutes and this is where our referees need to re-group and see this game home.
It would be easy to undo the good work so far by letting the game drift away from them, and miss a big call as players tire
GT at 2015-02-11 22:15:45
Kevin Mirallas is a change for Everton as he takes over from Arron Lennon
Whilst Darren Gibson also comes on for Ross Barkley
GT at 2015-02-11 22:12:31
Twenty minutes to go…
GT at 2015-02-11 22:12:08
Chelsea look to open up this resolute Everton defence as they introduce Drogba and Fabregas for Remy and Cuadrado
GT at 2015-02-11 22:10:56
Incredible save by Petr Cech as he stops a point blank effort from Lukaku who was no more than two yards from goal
GT at 2015-02-11 22:08:50
Mossy spots another foul by an Everton defender right under the nose of his assistant referee. Why didn’t John Brooks back up the decision with a flag.
This assistant has never impressed whenever I have seen him.
He needs to think more about his game and run the line to assist his referee. It appears he is doing it for himself at the moment.
Remember, Brooks, there is no ‘I’ in ‘TEAM’
GT at 2015-02-11 22:06:19
Another good spot by Jon as Barkeley pushes his opponent in the back
GT at 2015-02-11 22:04:56
Excellent save from Howard on the free kick effort
GT at 2015-02-11 22:04:19
Foul spotted by Jon.
Good decision as Lennon brings down Ramires on the edge of the Everton penalty area
GT at 2015-02-11 22:02:14
An hour has passed by, and still no goals.
Are Chelsea going to rue all of those missed chances?
GT at 2015-02-11 22:00:46
for Coleman as he takes one for the team in bringing down Hazard who was in a promising attack
GT at 2015-02-11 21:59:58
Jon Moss went for his whistle there as the Chelsea man went to ground, but he changed his mind and waved play on
GT at 2015-02-11 21:58:58
Hazard broke well there but John Brooks on the near side touchline was way off his pace.
Come on Brooks, you need to keep up…
GT at 2015-02-11 21:57:14
A very steady start to the second half as ten minutes have passed.
Chelsea have not picked up at the same intensity they were in the first half.
Everton continue to defend deep and in numbers.
Not a lot for our referee to involve himself in at the moment but he will be aware of the need to keep concentration in case a big decision comes his way.
GT at 2015-02-11 21:51:24
Oviedo is caught late by Willian and our referee rightly awards a free kick to the visitors
GT at 2015-02-11 21:49:17
Another good offside call from Edward Smart as he spots Lukaku marginally off…
GT at 2015-02-11 21:47:16
The second half gets going, with Chelsea taking the kick.
James McCarthy replaces Besic for Everton
GT at 2015-02-11 21:38:05
The game is crying out for a goal, though.
If Chelsea were to get it then the visitors would have to come out and attack rather than continue to defend very deeply and stifle their opponents.
GT at 2015-02-11 21:34:19
No great drama to report in that first 45 minutes.
Our referee is going well and his reading of the game is very good.
One assistant, Edward Smart, can also be satisfied with his first half efforts. Whereas his opposite number, John Brooks needs to improve as he blew the one offside call he had to make.
GT at 2015-02-11 21:31:31
Stalemate at Stamford Bridge as we reach half time.
GT at 2015-02-11 21:30:35
That’s the end of the first 45 minutes.
1 added minute to go on…
GT at 2015-02-11 21:28:34
Just as they did at home to Liverpool, Everton look like they are trying not to lose the game rather than win it.
Often they have 10 men in their own half defending.
Mossy has recognised that well, and continues to adjust his positioning and movement to match the game
GT at 2015-02-11 21:25:44
We enter the last five minutes of this first half and, remarkably, the scores are still level at 0-0
GT at 2015-02-11 21:23:52
It’s been a very quiet game for the two assistants so far.
Just one offside each to give….on right, the other got it wrong.
Both need to keep focussed though as a big decision could come their way at any time
GT at 2015-02-11 21:22:22
Our ref just needs to guard against complacency when Everton do attach though, as he almost got caught up in play as Everton passed the ball around.
GT at 2015-02-11 21:19:20
Jon has correctly picked up on the flow of the game and adjusted his positioning accordingly.
He isn’t making much effort to get into the Chelsea half as he knows the ball just comes back into the Everton defensive area very quickly.
Sensible from a referee who is reading the game well.
GT at 2015-02-11 21:16:27
Half an hour has past and the chances continue to rack up for the hosts, but so far no goals to show for their dominance
GT at 2015-02-11 21:15:16
Cuadrado goes down on the edge of the Everton penalty area but Jon correctly judges it as the Chelsea man running into his opponent. Another good call…
GT at 2015-02-11 21:13:09
The home support shout for a penalty for a holding offence in the area, but Mossy is correct again in waving away the appeals
GT at 2015-02-11 21:12:15
Good lining from Edward Smart as he spots Matic in an offside position
GT at 2015-02-11 21:11:34
Jon Moss pulls out Jagielka, the Everton skipper, along with Gareth Barry as the latter is getting close to a red card.
Sensible refereeing. If he sends off Barry later then no-one can say he wasn’t warned
GT at 2015-02-11 21:09:19
Gareth Barry is the latest into the referee’s notebook following a poor challenge on Cuadrado
GT at 2015-02-11 21:04:50
Yet another chance goes begging for Chelsea.
Might they live to regret missing so many chances?
20 minutes in, and our referee is having a good game…
GT at 2015-02-11 21:00:14
for Azpilacueta following a late challenge on Lennon.
Well done, Jon.
GT at 2015-02-11 20:58:51
Super save from the Toffees stopper as Chelsea go close again with a header
GT at 2015-02-11 20:57:51
Another good decision from Mossy as Willian is bundled over
GT at 2015-02-11 20:55:50
Ten minutes into the game and another chance goes begging for Chelsea. This time Cuadrado ires wide.
Our referee will be happy with his start.
GT at 2015-02-11 20:54:20
Lukaku goes close for Everton but he should not have been allowed to get a shot away as he was offside in the build-up. Come on John Brooks, get up to pace with the game.
GT at 2015-02-11 20:51:32
It’s all Chelsea in the opening moments as Willian puts an effort just over the bar
GT at 2015-02-11 20:50:53
Less than 5 minutes in and Besic sees yellow for a late challenge.
GT at 2015-02-11 20:50:12
That looked a very close call for a penalty against Naismith for handball.
If that hit his upper arm and not his shoulder then he got away with that…
GT at 2015-02-11 20:48:16
Excellent couple of advantages played by Jon Moss in the opening 2 minutes…Matic continue his run but blazed the ball over the bar.
Good start Mossy
GT at 2015-02-11 20:45:38
Everton take the kick-off and get us underway…
GT at 2015-02-11 20:39:20
It’s almost time for kick-off at Stamford Bridge…
GT at 2015-02-11 20:31:43
As for our referees today, Jon Moss takes the middle with John Brooks and Edward Smart on the lines. Roger East finds himself once again on fourth official duties.
‘Mossy’ has enjoyed, or should that be endured, an uneasy season so far often finding himself the subject of back page and television and radio criticism. He gave four penalties at Manchester City earlier this campaign – two right and two wrong – and knowing Jon as I do he will be disappointed by that.
The 44 year old official is employed as a Headteacher outside of football, which must provide many challenges to the Sunderland-born official in managing his time. You may not know that Moss was a keen footballer in his earlier days and, with a scholarship to the USA and junior academy places at Sunderland and Millwall, pundits cannot claim this referee ‘doesn’t understand the game as he’s never played it’.
Since joining the Select Group in 2011, Jon has taken charge of 77 games in which he has shown 241 yellow and 11 red cards.
Assistant Referee John Brooks would be well advised to turn a blind eye to the notoriously high ticket prices at Chelsea for this one, as he does like to comment on the burden placed upon visiting supporters (reference: Arsenal v Manchester City).
The relatively inexperienced Edward Smart may wish to take his lead from other colleagues when looking for role models from whom he can gain valuable tips and advice as he looks to build a career on the line.
Let’s hope that post-match this one is being spoken about for all the right reasons and the game develops into the spectacle we all wish for.

Hi everyone and welcome to another live Refcam commentary on today’s Premier League fixture Chelsea v Everton.
Until their first defeat in December at Newcastle many believed Chelsea could go the entire league season without losing. And with their dominance to date it is easy to see how those opinions where formed.
The Blues have been in great shape again this campaign, sometimes blowing opponents away, other times grinding out results; but more often than not winning.
They will, however, be without their talismanic goalscorer Diego Costa for this one as the Spain international is suspended following his stamp on Liverpool’s Emre Can.
It is ironic that the side to benefit from Costa’s violent conduct against a Liverpool player is their Merseyside rival, Everton.
The Toffees were fortunate to hold on to a draw at home at the weekend against The Reds and will be looking to their £28 million man, Romelu Lukaku, to begin repaying that massive fee with a run of good form and goals.
This week sees four of the eight teams currently below Everton play each other in the league, so should they lose at Chelsea today they could be dragged into a relegation dog fight.
All that means both sides will be in search of three points tonight, albeit for very different reasons.
So sit back and enjoy our YATR commentary on this one. It promises to be a cracker of a match.
