Celtic v Rangers

FINAL SCORE: 0 – 0

MH at 2017-12-30 15:01:42

In a pulsating game with both goal keepers making excellent saves the honours are even, but I am sure Rangers will go home the happier team with a point which they deserved. The last time Bobby Madden refereed this game back in March he came in for some severe criticism well !!! He won’t be getting any criticism today that’s for sure because in my opinion he was OUTSTANDING !!!! As I said this was a pulsating game that’s because of the way Bobby managed this game. He wasn’t fussy, he allowed physical challenges, his recognition of careless and reckless was exemplary, his fitness, positioning and movement which gave him the perfect viewing angels were also excellent that’s why he didn’t miss anything. His reading and anticipation of play was also excellent, his tempo management of the game was excellent, he knew when he needed to slow the game down to maintain his control and refreshing to see he knew when to stamp his authority on the game and nobody can have any complains with the 6 cautions that he issued today. Well done to him and his team. Happy New Year to you all.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:46:05

This game has been intense, played at a very high tempo and Bobby Madden’s fitness has been excellent.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:44:19

Yellow Cardreckless challenge by C8 deservedly cautioned.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:42:56

Free kick correctly given to Rangers. Once again excellent communication with the players calming them down.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:41:11

Yellow CardC63 correct caution after a foul on R21 for stopping a promising attack.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:40:16

Well done referee not a foul.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:39:01

Last 10 minutes is the dead lock going to be broken?

MH at 2017-12-30 14:38:22

Substitution for R, R19 OFF, R27 ON.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:37:51

Referee now correctly tempo managing the game by slowing it down. In doing so this will maintain his full match control that he holds at present.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:36:45

Free kick given to R19.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:36:20

Free kick correctly given to Celtic for a late challenge.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:33:46

Free kick given to Rangers.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:32:30

It’s good to see Bobbys concentration and focus are still at a very high level as he has missed nothing to date. It is so important that he does not switch off as it could lead him to miss a big incident.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:29:45

Substitution for Celtic, C11 OFF, C21 ON.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:26:13

What an instinctive save by the Celtic keeper, Rangers are coming back into the game.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:24:55

Free kick correctly given to R19.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:21:13

The tempo of this game has gone right up, the referee has to recognise this and go up with it.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:20:32

Corner correctly given.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:19:33

Substitution for Celtic, C10 OFF, C9 ON.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:19:10

Yellow CardR24 correct caution denying a promising attack for a holding offence. Well done referee.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:18:13

That has to be a caution!!

MH at 2017-12-30 14:15:46

The referees positioning and movement around the field of play has been excellent. If anything I would like to see him squeeze play just a little bit when the play is more towards his assistant.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:13:15

Correct free kick given to Celtic.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:12:56

The referee starting the second half as he finished the first half, judging the level of his involvement very well not being fussy and allowing physical challenges within the laws of the game.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:10:03

Good challenge by C20.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:08:59

My first little bit of criticism of the referee his positing at the Rangers corner was far to deep at the back of the penalty area. What is he going to see? He needs to be more central for that danger zone. He is looking through to many players.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:07:04

Correct offside given.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:06:20

Terrific save by the Celtic keeper, nothing to do all game but that’s when the keeper earns his money.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:04:33

Heavy rain now falling at Celtic Park, could be difficult for the referee in recognition of challenges.

MH at 2017-12-30 14:03:21

Rangers to get the second half underway.

We have got more live refcam games coming your way on New Year’s Day. Brighton V Bournemouth is your early game and Everton V Manchester United is your later game.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:52:07

Well that first half absolutely flew by, can’t believe there were no goals. Referee Bobby Madden has got to be please with his first half performance.  He stamped his authority on the game when needed to with 2 cautions, letting the players know exactly what he will accept and not accept, maintaining full control for the first 45 minutes with correct recognition of careless and reckless challenges. He will use the half time to gather his thoughts to make sure he comes out fully focused for the second half.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:47:32

Half Time

MH at 2017-12-30 13:47:07

How has C11 missed that????

MH at 2017-12-30 13:45:47

A minimum of 2 minutes added time.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:43:47

R40 down injured accidental collision with C49.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:42:41

R11 trying to say there was simulation by a Celtic player, referee hasn’t gone looking for trouble well done.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:40:19

It’s evident to see that the players are trusting the referees decision making as I haven’t seen any dissent towards the match officials.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:39:05

Referee just invaded the players space just needed to hang back in those forward situations.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:37:52

Good to see the referee engaging with verbal communication calming the players down.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:37:10

The pace of this game is extraordinary.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:36:18

Celtic may rue their missed chances.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:35:33

Free kick correctly given to Celtic after a foul on C49.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:35:02

Foul committed by R24 referee plays advantage but In a game like this you have got to give the free kick as sometimes players think you have missed it and will take their own retribution.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:32:44

At present referee keeping a central path of control which is working for him.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:32:10

Free kick correctly given to Celtic for a push.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:31:12

Free kick given to Rangers.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:30:35

Free kick given to Rangers correctly given.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:29:33

Few verbals going on between the players, the referee has to be aware of this so he can nip it in the bud so he can maintain his match control which isn’t in question at present.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:26:57

Strong challenge by C8.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:25:04

Careless challenge by R20 on C8 pleasing to see referee speaking to R20 just to calm him down.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:24:10

Throw correctly given to Rangers.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:23:26

Pleasing to see the referee giving this game a chance. Letting it breath and only getting involved when needing to.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:21:06

It’s good to see the referee giving free kicks in the defensive third thus tempo managing the game.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:20:07

Free kick to Celtic correctly given.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:19:07

Substitution for Rangers R22 OFF, R24 ON.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:18:39

I like the referees positioning on dead ball situations, central of the penalty area making sure he has got the best viewing angel for potential incidents in that danger zone.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:16:55

Another excellent save by the Rangers keeper.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:16:17

Yellow CardR19 reckless challenge from behind correctly cautioned.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:13:52

Great opportunity for Celtic to go 1-0 up.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:13:21

The referee has now set his tolerance levels on reckless challenges and it’s pleasing to see that he has stamped his authority on the game in recognising a reckless challenge committed by R6.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:11:57

Good save by Rangers keeper.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:11:39

Yellow CardR6. Reckless challenge on C14 correctly given.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:10:27

Good turn of pace shown by the referee on a counter attack by Ranges.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:09:39

Offside correctly given by AR1.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:08:00

Free kick correctly given to Rangers.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:07:32

Tempo is up with the challenges coming in, in these games he needs to stop the game straight away when ther is no real advantage.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:05:29

Good save by the Celtic keeper.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:04:14

Correct offside given by AR2.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:03:19

First corner to Celtic, good challenge by R2.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:02:50

He will also have to set his tolerance levels high with physical challenges, as these encounters are very physical.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:01:37

Bobby will have to be switched on from the first minute and stay fully focused.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:00:41

Celtic to get the game underway.

MH at 2017-12-30 13:00:21

What an atmosphere as the players walk out.

MH at 2017-12-30 12:52:34

Good afternoon and welcome to our live refcam game and what a game we have Celtic V Rangers. Always a pulsating game which is always full of incident and controversy. Celtic will be looking to extend their lead at the top while Rangers in 3rd will want the 3 points to close the gap on both Aberdeen who are 2nd and Celtic. The man in charge of today’s derby is experienced referee Bobby Madden who last took charge of this fixture back in March which was full of controversy. Bobby will be assisted by AR1 David McGeachie (technical side) and AR2 Alistair Mather. Good luck to all.
