FINAL SCORE: 1 - 3

Overall Match Summary -

The Referee Deniz Aytekin of Germany has controlled the match in a consistent and correct manner. All yellow cards were deserved and all were consistent in his punishment of offences. His movement was good creating good viewing angles and proximity to play. He showed overall a strong body language as I have mentioned in my BLOG and I would very much like to see how he would get on refereeing a Premiership game. He has done his job tonight, very much unseen and unnoticed. We are not talking about the referee from this game. How refreshing to see and well done referee.

AR on the far side improved in the 2nd half with offside judgements. Good support on throw in and free kicks.

AR nearside did not raise his flag for offside and this was correct. Just his position caused a concern as he was out of line on a number of occasions. You have to be in line with the 2nd rearmost defender to be accurate in your offside judgements.

AARs 1 & 2 showed a very good body language and gave good support on gk/ck and also it was clear they assisted on some free kicks. Well done.

Contested throw in and we see a rather weak signal from our referee. Make em sharp and positive it adds to your body language.!

Yellow Card A. 11 shown in a firm manner by our referee.

AM at 2015-02-25 22:27:36

Corner kick to A. as they look to pull a goal back.

AM at 2015-02-25 22:26:56

Again throw in – no signal from our referee who is close by.

M. sub 23 off and 15 on. Time is being absorbed here by M.

AM at 2015-02-25 22:25:09

From the A. ck the referee is showing good movement / positional sense to get into the best viewing angle to judge.

AM at 2015-02-25 22:23:57

No free kick to A. CORRECT. Referee is in a good viewing position to judge. No offside against M CORRECT.

A. sub 19 off 7 on.

M. sub 7 off 3 on

AM at 2015-02-25 22:21:00

Again correct throw in to A. from our nearside AR.

AM at 2015-02-25 22:18:38

No free kick to A. when it would have been correct to award.

AM at 2015-02-25 22:17:46

M. SUB 9 Off and 17 on

AM at 2015-02-25 22:16:42

The referee continues to keep a firm grip on proceedings, he is allowing play to continue, steeping in when necessary and showing yellow cards for reckless play. I wonder how he would fair in our Premiership?

AM at 2015-02-25 22:11:23

No offside to A. again correct from far side AR.

AM at 2015-02-25 22:10:57

Good view from DA no penalty kick to A. His hand view is no penalty kick get on with it.

A. SUB 34 OFF AND 15 ON

AM at 2015-02-25 22:08:26

Nearside AR makes a correct throw in signal to M. From a very close position. Always more difficult to judge when they are so close to your position.

AM at 2015-02-25 22:07:15

Good non offside signal from our far side AR. He seems to judging this area better in the 2nd half.

AM at 2015-02-25 22:06:06

Good advantage to M. from our referee who shows a clear advantage signal.

AM at 2015-02-25 22:04:54

Corner kick to M. good save. I am not happy with the ARs position on the nearside touchline he is not keeping in line with the A. 2nd rear most defender. You have to stay in line with the 2nd rearmost defender at all times to make an accurate offside judgement.

AM at 2015-02-25 22:01:51

A. sub 12 off  14 on.

AM at 2015-02-25 22:00:22

Good opportunity from Giroud to score but it goes wide. Free kick to M. awarded.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:59:22

The body language and movement from our Assistant Referee on the far side is not one to copy. This is where our Assistants overall excel.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:56:56

Arsenal are now going to have to up the tempo to get back in this game.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:55:40

GOAL! 0-2

AM at 2015-02-25 21:54:31

Free kick to A. Spray out, no offside flag this time when Giroud looked to be offside.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:52:43

Again the award of a safe free kick to M. The referee with his long strides gets to make the judgement.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:51:10

Any physical contact is immediately punished with a strong blast of the whistle.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:49:10

Referee not sure of the restart of play this is where AARs BEHIND THE GOAL HELP. He awaits for a signal for the correct restart.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:47:35

No half time subs.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:41:09

Half time summary -

Our referee Deniz Aytekin is in full control and he has used his authority well throughout, letting play flow when he can and showing his stern body language in particular following the award of free kicks and in showing the yellow cards. He has the authority and respect of all players and his facial expressions say it all. Keep an eye on this area of his man management in the 2nd half!! Little arm / hand signals on throw ins and he very much relies on his ARs to lead.

AR. far side has flagged on 4 occasions for offside ad on 2 he could have held the flag down, as no offside offence. Otherwise good support on free kick and throw ins.

AR. nearside great flag for yellow card to M. near end of the 1st half. No offside`s correctly given.

AARS both ends have supported well with free kicks and ball out of play.

I am sure that the tempo will increase in the 2nd half after Arsene Wenger`s half time chat. The Match Official`s will need to be mindful.

Yellow Card2 yellow cards so far all correct.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:32:26

Half Time0-1

AM at 2015-02-25 21:32:09

Yellow Card21 of M. AR. on near touchline gives good support. The Referee shows 21 the yellow card and 21 of M. GIVES THE REFEREE A TAP AS IF AS MUCH TO SAY “FAIR ENOUGH” Referee speaks to 2 players prior to kick, authority seen here. I minute of added time.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:27:47

Yellow Card34 A COQUELIN RECKLESS ON 22. OF M OUR GOAL SCORER.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:26:32

Important time for M. to score. I am sure that the tempo will increase in the 2nd half and the Match Officials will be discussing this at half time.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:24:52

What a cracker from M. GOAL!

22 M. shoots and it takes a deflection off Mertesacker FOR A GOAL and a very important away goal.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:20:43

Our Referee is pacing himself so far and keeping well in control so far.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:19:45

Have you noticed the difference in the pace so far? very different to our Premiership

AM at 2015-02-25 21:17:46

JUST 3 ATTEMPTS ON TARGET SO FAR 2A and 1M.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:16:35

Don`t forget to tune into The REF SHOW and listen to England`s No. 1 interviewer Alan Biggs and Guests as he discusses the BAD and we must not forget the GOOD as well following all the weekend’s games. This week`s edition is now available to view and this week’s guests are Mark Halsey and David Hirst with both discussing the good and the bad.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:13:16

A further offside flag signal against M. and play again could have been allowed to continue as no offence had occurred.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:12:14

Have you noticed that our referee is not using any arm signals for throw ins? this is not adding to the communication value and he seems to be relying on his Assistants Flag Signals.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:10:41

Free kick to A. Correct view and judgement by referee and this free kick results in a corner kick to A.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:08:49

Corner kick to A. No free kick correctly awarded to M. Good judgement by our Match Officials as a Team.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:07:14

Good positive body language from our AAR behind the A. goalline.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:05:53

Free kick to A. Strong blast of the Whistle from our referee.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:04:32

Advantage played by the referee as he attempts to keep play moving as the tempo drops. AAR behind the M. GOAL then assists in a free kick to M.

AM at 2015-02-25 21:02:16

A further offside against Monaco now 3 awarded early on

AM at 2015-02-25 21:01:41

Free kick to M. Strong blast of the whistle from referee and from the free kick offside is awarded although the ball was not played by the M player the AR has deemed that he was active in play, although play could have been allowed to continue in this situation as no offside offence had occurred.

AM at 2015-02-25 20:58:52

5 Monaco late challenge on 12 Arsenal 5 M spoken to by DA in a strong manner showing his early authority in the game.

AM at 2015-02-25 20:57:40

Appeals for handball but the ball is played up and from the Monaco player`s arm out for a corner kick. Not a penalty kick in my view.

AM at 2015-02-25 20:55:11

Good movement from the Referee as play breaks towards the Monaco goal line. He is allowing play to move freely without getting involved a yet.

AM at 2015-02-25 20:53:36

Though based in Monaco, the club is regarded as a French club, as the club plays in the French football league system, and because the principality of Monaco is not a member of UEFA. Monaco is one of the most successful clubs in France, having won seven league titles and five Coupe de France trophies.
