Full time summary –

Dean was the conductor of this game. all were in accordance with his orchestration of this game. He deanostrated a vintage and classical performance which was full of good management skills, reading of play, acceleration seen on quick breakaways, 2 Yellow Card yellow cards shown all well read and judged. Just the 1 yellow card which was missed was Fredericks of M. Advantage was played throughout whenever possible and this was to the benefit of this game. Good viewing angles and close proximity to play meant all KMIs were correctly judged and given from a credible viewing position. All in all a masterful performance from Deano, made with what looked like ease. There is a lot to look, listen and learn from this referee`s performance.

Both Assistants tuned well into Dean`s confident performance and how they must have enjoyed his confident man management of this game.

4th Official Langford must have learnt a lot from this game and it would have been good for his development as a Football League Referee. Both Technical Occupants were fine and again reflects on Dean`s overall match performance. Well done all round Match Officials.

Full TimeAs Mike Dean then brings play to an end and a 2-0 win for Arsenal to put them into the last 8 of The FA Cup. Stay tuned for my full time summary…

AM at 2015-02-15 18:50:58

M. still continue to press forward and a great effort from M.9 Kiki hits the post

AM at 2015-02-15 18:49:10

3 Mins added time shown by Langford. Good stoppage by Dean to M. check player OK

AM at 2015-02-15 18:47:51

As we move into added time, important for all Officials to retain focus.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:45:49

Good angle from Dean to judge no penalty kick to A.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:44:53

Fredericks 5 M. goes flying in with a tackle and for me he is lucky to escape a yellow card. This challenge was reckless.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:43:36

Yellow Card21 Vossen M. for persistent infringement (3 fouls) nice time for a yellow as Dean enhances his match control. Just the 2nd yellow of the game.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:40:35

Offside Burt. 2nd of the game.

A. sub 12 off 38 on

AM at 2015-02-15 18:38:50

Have you seen how Dean can communicate with players off the ball and not let it affect his concentration? keep an eye on this area of his man management of players.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:36:25

Ball just goes out of play for throw in good to use whistle to communicate this to players.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:35:43

Dean looks to Garrratt to lead on a throw in which goes to A. Good to see the referee letting AR`s make judgements in their patrol area.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:33:44

Advantage to M. CK to M. Then advantage to A. Players from both teams accepting this even if the M. Advantage appeared tight.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:31:24

Good eye to eye CONTACT with Garratt and Dean for a throw in to A.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:29:38

AM at 2015-02-15 18:28:38

AM at 2015-02-15 18:27:29

Quick breakaway from Arsenal and Dean accelerates to keep in view of play, creating a good angle whilst retaining close proximity to play.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:26:19

Foul by Gibbs on Kiki. Spray out Dean consistent with the ceremonial award as in the first half. Spray out

AM at 2015-02-15 18:22:09

Advantage to A. Then handball by Clayton, free kick to A. If the handball had been in the penalty area then I am sure it would have been a penalty kick what is the difference? despite what the commentators might say….

AM at 2015-02-15 18:20:15

Good effort from Gibbs and a ck to A.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:18:38

Dean has shown his undoubted ability of knowing when to keep things tight and then when to let things out and keep play flowing as A. continue to dominate.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:16:23

As the tempo rose with the last challenge, so Dean rose with it and he did not shirk his responsibility. Ist Offside flagged by Burt.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:14:00

Free kick to A Dean close to judge.

Yellow CardGabriel 5 of A. then reckless on Reach. Dean correctly and quickly shows the yellow card. Spray out free kick to M. Well managed.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:11:44

Thanks for your message re Jamie Lawrence who played for Bradford City in the early 2000`s the article is on page 19. Football Sport in The Times.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:07:43

Good hold of the flag by Garratt, down by his side who is also communicating to Dean no foul.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:06:47

Good backward, side and forward movement seen from Dean as he looks to inspire us all with his fitness and movement levels.

AM at 2015-02-15 18:04:26

Early ck to M. No offside`s as yet in this game awarded

AM at 2015-02-15 18:02:36

The ARs check the goal nets prior to the start of the 2nd half.

Dean blows his whistle and we are off for the 2nd half..

AM at 2015-02-15 17:57:39

Half TimeHalf time summary.

Mike Dean has so far produced a performance with a clear recognition of offences, explosive sprinting when required which is good to report upon. Dean has kept close proximity to play, judged free kicks well, been the first to have a discussion with players as and when required and he has also got away from the scene very quickly when he has sensed some moaning from players. This was in particular just before the 2nd A. goal with the M. Player moaning about the award of the corner kick and Giroud then sweeping home the ball in an elegant manner for the 2nd A goal. Both ARs have supported Dean well in tune with his refereeing style.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:48:01

Half Time2-0 to Arsenal, stay tuned for a half time summary gunning your way!

AM at 2015-02-15 17:47:12

Half hearted and desperate appeals by some A. Players, no way a penalty kick. Dean there to judge and communicate with players who are showing him real respect so far.

1 minute added time shown by 4th Official

AM at 2015-02-15 17:45:43

No free kick to A. as Dean looks to keep play moving and players are responding at the moment to his approach.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:44:29

Good position by Dean for the dropping zone from the M. goal keepers clearance he is right there to judge

AM at 2015-02-15 17:42:36

Good arm and hand signal for a throw in to M. Routine but shown with polish a reminder to us all!

AM at 2015-02-15 17:41:10

M have just had their first shot on goal as we move into the final 5 minutes and added time.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:38:56

Free kick to Arsenal Dean is right there to adjudicate correctly

AM at 2015-02-15 17:38:11

Burt will be positioned on the edge of the M penalty area to ensure that the M g/k remains within his penalty area and no handling offence outside.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:35:44

Very good acceleration from Dean in a quick Arsenal breakaway, this is what we want to see from all our Premier League Referees!!

AM at 2015-02-15 17:34:23

I think that the 2nd Arsenal goal has raised the tempo, Officials will need to rise with it

AM at 2015-02-15 17:33:10

Advantage to Arsenal I thought tight at first but it has worked well for Dean to be fair

AM at 2015-02-15 17:32:06

Corner kick to Arsenal from a disputed argument from the M. Player who argued that it should have been a goal kick and he is still arguing with Dean as Giroud sweeps in his 2nd and Arsenal`s 2nd goal.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:29:02

GOAL!Giroud and it is 1-0 to The Arsenal

AM at 2015-02-15 17:28:00

Bradford through it is a year of shock results, who do you think will get to the final this year? Good article in yesterday`s Times about Jamie Lawrence a one time Bradford Player. Born again leader with the courage of his convictions. Well worth a read.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:24:00

Keep an eye on Garratt`s crabbing and side movement focus and concentration, put it into your game plan and see your assessment mark rise!!

AM at 2015-02-15 17:22:14

Thanks again Warren Barlow for your response and message about Albert Handley 70+ Referee by all accounts had a GREAT GAME this morning and he is showing to others how it should be done keeping up with play. Well done Albert!!

AM at 2015-02-15 17:20:37

Please take a close look at Dean`s movement, close proximity to play and the angles that he creates, he also sometimes goes to blow his whistle for a foul but then decides not to, no problem here at all, it just shows how the referee is reading and managing the game.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:18:37

Foul throw in by Arsenal correctly signalled by Burt, how many do we see incorrectly allowed and again good to see basic law applied here.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:17:23

Good clear effective arm signal for throw in from Dean, looks effective when delivered so positively

AM at 2015-02-15 17:15:50

Goal kick to M.  Dean looking to Burt for confirmation, use of comms here as well.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:14:58

Good defending form Omerou 22 and a great position from Dean to judge no penalty kick and close proximity and good angle achieved here.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:13:09

Credible goal kick signal from Garratt on the goal line not a metre or 2 down the touchline. Remember it is all about credibility and being in the right position to judge.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:11:58

Mike Dean waves a no foul signal with his hand, he is close to the incident and it is his way of communication to Players and Spectators. Good advantage then played by Dean.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:10:06

No free kick and a throw in then awarded to Middlesbrough from Burt good concentration seen here to not over react with an incorrect free kick signal.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:08:03

Going back to the previous free kick award just outside of the penalty it is better to organise matters rather than allow a quickly taken free kick, remember it is all about your game management plan and allows teams to be properly prepared for the resultant free kick.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:05:57

Free kick to Arsenal Mike Dean looking to play advantage but correctly brought play back for the original free kick. Spray out and he is right to insist on a ceremonial free kick.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:03:38

No foul to Arsenal good close view from AR Burt no foul correct

AM at 2015-02-15 17:02:31

As we kick off Andrew Garratt is on the far touchline and Stuart Burt on the near touchline.

AM at 2015-02-15 17:01:15

Thanks Warren Barlow for your message about Albert Handley 70+ Referee by all accounts had a GREAT GAME this morning and he is showing to others how it should be done keeping up with play. Well done Albert!!

AM at 2015-02-15 16:59:34

So will the Gunners be gunning their way to Wembley or will The Boro be burrowing their way to Wembley?

  • This is the eighth time Arsenal and Middlesbrough have been drawn together in the FA Cup, with Arsenal winning five of the previous seven and Boro two.
  • The Gunners have lost just one of their last 40 FA Cup home matches (W30 D9 L1).
  • Middlesbrough have won just two of their last 12 FA Cup matches against top flight opponents (W2 D3 L7).
  • Middlesbrough’s last four FA Cup matches have all ended with a 2-0 scoreline in favour of the away team (two won, two lost).
  • Only Aston Villa’s George Ramsay has won the FA Cup as a manager more times than Arsene Wenger’s five successes.

Pre match comments from both Managers are:

  • Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: “Our basic is always to finish in the top four and then win a trophy on top of that.
  • “We want always to be in the Champions League and this season it will be very difficult, because it’s very tight if you look at the table – every game now becomes a cup game.
  • “We have won the FA Cup five times during my period here. Nobody has won it more in the last 18 years, so we have always taken the competition seriously.”

  • Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka: “We go to Arsenal in good form and it’s going to be a massive game, because everyone’s thinking we can beat them.
  • “We beat Man City and played really well against Liverpool, and we’re not a surprise now. But if we go there thinking we can beat them by not playing our best, we will be making a big mistake.
  • “We have to prepare in the same way we did against Blackpool or Man City. We have to think it’s a tough 90 minutes against a very good team.”

AM at 2015-02-15 16:39:37

Good afternoon and welcome to this afternoon`s LIVE YOU ARE THE REF . COM REF CAM game. Arsenal v Middlesbrough an interesting game in prospect in this FA Cup 5th round tie with a number of big teams going out of the FA Cup this Season we could well see a real upset as we move towards the final stages with Wembley awaiting in May.
