Former Sheffield United star Dean Saunders will return to the city next month to celebrate the success of this summer’s Youdan Trophy.
The former Blades, Liverpool and Wales striker will be the guest speaker at the prestigious Youdan Trophy Celebratory Dinner to be staged at the Hilton Double Tree on October 4th.
Sheffield’s renowned Youdan Trophy is now acknowledged to be an internationally-acclaimed showcase for up-and-coming footballing talent.
More than 850 young players from some of the world’s biggest football clubs competed in the city a few weeks ago – the third annual staging of an event which continues to grow in stature and reputation.
The Seattle Sounders achieved an historic double this year by winning their second consecutive Youdan Trophy Final in an Under 16s game which was refereed by the most celebrated official in world football, Mark Clattenburg.
Sheffield-based you-are-the-ref.com, which is the world’s leading independent authority and education platform for match officials, is behind the creation of a competition which celebrates football’s first ever tournament – the Football Challenge Cup, presented by Thomas Youdan and which was played for only once, at Bramall Lane in 1867.
“The Youdan Trophy continues to go from strength to strength, “ said You-Are-The-Ref Director, Keith Hackett. “ We are now attracting some of the biggest names in world football – clubs who wish to see their stars of tomorrow compete in Sheffield – the home of football. It will be an honour and a great pleasure to see Dean Saunders back in the city. “
Tickets for the Youdan Trophy Celebratory Dinner are just £35 each (tables of 10 for £325) and include a four course meal. The event will run between 7pm-11pm. You can book tickets by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 0114 262 2124.
